Des Kelly in the Mail
Re: Des Kelly in the Mail
A couple of quotes from the forum on the Denver Post.
If you want a blue-print of how Arsenal will look down the track, look at The Avalanche. Bottom feeding team, filled with middle tier talent, always waiting, waiting for one of those low lives to ride in on their trust steed and save the organization from complete embarrassment.
Please Stanley - sell off your teams. Let people with passion, and a winning culture invest.

Kroenke owned teams are designed to be profitable. None of them try to compete for championships. Kroenke wants his teams in the playoffs and that is the most you can expect of them. They will not have any chance of competing for championships. The payroll will always the priority. Arsenal fans will not taste any hardware until Kroenke is gone.
See a pattern forming ?

Although I would rather taste silverware than hardware (sounds unpleasant), they're spot on. Kroenke will only allow expenditure to the extent that it is required to significantly increase commercial revenue. With his other franchises they have only spent enough to keep them commercially competitive and not enough to actually challenge for top honours. As Arsenal are currently CL regulars and the TV rights are distributed roughly evenly in this country (in addition to us having previously favoured long-term commercial contracts), there is no incentive for him to invest as it will more than likely result in a smaller-than-investment increase in value. The bloke wants to make money, simple as, and the best way for him to do that is to do nothing and sell to Usmanov when it's most profitable for him to do so, if anybody thinks he gives a shit about the football club then they're kidding themselves.potter wrote:A couple of quotes from the forum on the Denver Post.

Re: Des Kelly in the Mail
Didn't think the article was too bad, as it was mainly on point about RVP being a prima donna & Usmanov trying to use unrest to his advantage - not the best interests of the club (regardless of what he says). However I don't think that saves Wenger from any scrutiny as he too has things that must be answered for.
A couple posts above this one, someone mentioned Kroenke teams. I have to admit, I haven't seen the St Louis Rams or the Avalanche competitive in a long time... and it appears the Colorado Rapids (MLS) league title was a bit of a flash in the pan.

Yeah, but a) the Rams are, were and always will be shit. Even when they were goodBarriecuda wrote:Didn't think the article was too bad, as it was mainly on point about RVP being a prima donna & Usmanov trying to use unrest to his advantage - not the best interests of the club (regardless of what he says). b) American sports are a bit different, as you well know. I'm not at all pleased with the current board, but willing to see how they do in negotiating the new commercial deals before fully condemning them.

You have to shed a tear for him
I love the way wenger who earns £7m per season can claim that he isn't motivated by money - clearly when you look at his performance in the last few years then you would have to agree that getting 7m hasn't motivated him to succeed at all

If you ain't motivated by money then why don't you give a large chunk of it back you arrogant dinosaur

Re: Des Kelly in the Mail
Just made this point over on AFC forum. Some people are lapping Kelly's article up as vindication of devotion to the Wenger Project. However while the article absolves Wenger of all blame where we know the whole management structure/ownership is in dire need of looking at whereas Kelly seems to think we're lucky and any dissenters are petulant children.SWLGooner wrote:Des Kelly is a Scum fan... says it all.

Kelly is a moron too.

Re: Des Kelly in the Mail
groundhog day will continue as long as ST holders keep buying their tickets and don't voice any criticism as this enables Kroenke to stay in charge and therefore Wenger to remain manager.
I have this summer therefore reconsidered who I think are the biggest problem at the club. I did think Kroenke but that is actually not correct. He should be commended for showing business sense. The biggest problem at the club are the SUPPORTERS. I am now boycotting all PL games until further notice. There is no point moaning if you keep attending.

Greatest Show on Turf. Probably one of the top 5 Superbowl winning teams of all time.SWLGooner wrote:Yeah, but a) the Rams are, were and always will be shit. Even when they were good![]()

On the Kreonke/success topic being brought up. Would be a fine theory had we not been so uncompetitive since before he took complete control.
That shit just don't work.
