Kroenke is a billionaire chairman who has done absolutely for our club since he has been here. He seldom attend's games, gives any opinion on current team affairs and shows no interest in the playing side of things therefore an investment however big or small ensures the team remain competitive and allows the chairman to squeeze every penny out of the club before selling for a healthy profit therefore an investment of some sort is the minimum you expect from someone it that kind of position. I don't mean £100 million as such, just enough to ensure key areas are strengthened using any profits we have and a small investment to ensure we remain competitive come the start of the season and not start this season the same as the last. A defensive-mid & creative midfielder and a back up goalie are essential for our title-push. The spine of the team was almost complete with szczesny in goal, vermaelen and koscielny at the back, arteta & Song in the middle and Van persie up-front. All that was missing in my opinion and many others was a left-back, a proper defensive Midfielder and a creative midfielder infront of Arteta and Song. Since Van Persie decided he would not continue with us it leaves an obvious void upfront which i think will be filled by Podolski as he is more effective as a striker than as a left-sided midfielder. I also think this is the season where gervinho steps up and shows us what he's made of after a decent first season (If only he could improve his shooting).

I was actually very happy with the way we finished season in 3rd and Chevski denying scum from CL spot. But Scum is acting differently than one would expect with the way they crumbled and knocked out of CL spot. Instead of building any optimism around the club even finishing 3rd, we seem to be back into negative mode with RVP issue. Our fluke CL place is suppose to be 80+ million worth this term. Looks like we are yet to grasp the change in money dynamics taking place in EPL/CL.

Agree with LeGinge...but I never had any realisitic expectation of anything else. I am happy in my knowledge that the players don't love the club (and why should they?), that the manager and board may have other agendas than what appears in public, that the support are mainly apathetic and buy the club's party line, and that anyone who comes into contact with Arsenal are now a customer to be bled dry rather than a fan of a football team.

Jd I know that a few pages back you did admit that your satisfaction was conditional on the rvp saga having a positive ending so this isnt an "I told you so" comment but I am wondering how confident you are now ? Do you see any way possible that the rvp saga can have a good ending ? Do you believe that we will buy players of a sufficent quality to replace our captain if he goes and do you envisage any effect his departure would have on squad morale ?

I'm a bit gutted, probably as much with the dishonest way RVP has engineered his last big payday as I am with the fact he's leaving
Think its fair to assume we've already bought RVP's replacement,
I like Theo but if he wants £100kpw, his mate RVP is gone and we can get £20M selling him is gonna look very attractive (esp after all the renewals are in)
we now need huge seasons from players that we can't necessarily expect it from - Jack to come back quickly from a longterm injury that I dont even understand and hit the ground running immiediately, Gervinho to improve massively in his 2nd season, Ryo to mature and be ready for the Prem, Benik Afobe to be the first youth team striker we've produced since Kevin Campbell or Andy Cole.

Gervinho will step up this season, 4 goals and 8 assists isn't bad for a guy who came from the French league although i do agree it could have been alot more having looked at some of the chances he missed over the course of the season (the one against Tottenham is unforgivable!!) Had he played with his boots on the right feet he could actually have been closer to 10 goals, so there is still a lot more to come from him this coming season.
