Sunderland Calling

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Always appreciated chunky for the work he put in organising it and enjoyed having the craic with him and the lads in the boozer after the game 8) Can't blame the manager for shite results when you see the crap he has had to work with
Absolutely. Chunky is a top manager and a great bloke. 8)

It didn’t help him that his best striker turned up drunk, hungover and with a broken wrist and only managed one shot on target - which hit a seriously fat defenders seriously fat leg! Or that one of the full backs was about 3 foot tall with a dodgy thigh muscle and a taste for brown tracksuits. Or the fact that another certain player was blinded by the shine off his bald head and hit the post from 2 feet out. Or that one of the centre halves wore what can only be described as checkered fatboy swimming shorts and was carrying not so much “a few extra pounds” but rather “a few extra tonnes”. I could go on!

But seriously, it was a great laugh and the banter in the pub after was quality. 8) :barscarf:

You were Wiltord to my Henry, old friend. :D

Yeah, I do owe the team a decent game in fairness.

But I'm in a bit of a huff with The Arsenal at the moment and was standing by my vow of not attending anymore games until Lord Vader is gone (or has changed his current management style drastically). But I'm still dying to get over for games, so don't know how that one will pan out...

I'll have a look at flights, ticket availability (my mate deferreed his ST this year) and work commitments and get back to you.

Have held off booking my flights (that will coincide with arriving early) but don't wanna leave it till last minute,

If the game isn't going ahead, I'll be flying later and to a different airport, so any info appreciated 8)

I'm an awkward sod I know :-P

All,
is the reason for not confirming the match due to having enough to get a team out or is it due to not having the pitch biooked?
If it is the latter I am happy to stump up the cash for the pitch and people can pay subs on the day to cover it. I think we just need to book a pitch soon otherwise we will end up with a problem with pitch availability and will end up having a kick off time that encroaches on to our drinking time.

That sounds great mate, we need someone in the area that can find the info we require to book the pitch, chunky might have some numbers and then you need some peeps to confirm they will be there.

We can't book the pitch until 28 days before game day. I make that 21st July. If one person wanted to take the bull by the horns so to speak and make a reservation on the 21st we'd quite easily have enough to play 11 a side now.

Can't do shit until the 21st. 8)

I'll book it on the 21st then and people can start making their travel arrangements. I assume you book the pitches by the hour so do we want an hour or 2  ?
Also, I assume our Mackam friends be able to make it for 10am?

They're usually hanging out of their arses and sprinting down the road slurping cans of lager but by and large they usually turn up on time.

One hour is plenty, we're usually quite competitive for the first half, then fall apart in the second. 30 mins each way should be plenty. 8)
