The security situation for the games would be laughable, if it wasn't so worrying.
Private security company G4S has cocked up so badly that British troops are suddenly having to cover their recruitment shortfall. Imagine how you would feel if you just got leave from Afghanistan, foreign holiday booked, family and friends to meet, only to be told your leave is cancelled. Your country needs you. A private company fucked up. Sorry and all that.
Also, with only two weeks to go, G4S is training students to be security officers. These youngsters are supposed to be old enough, wise enough, and responsible enough to do the same job as the highly trained people you see at airports. Pffff! They are being trained in a classroom environment. Some of them are listening to music on headphones, playing with their mobile phones, and even falling asleep! One of the students captured all this on video. On his or her mobile phone!
If
that wasn't bad enough, there are also reports from security managers that they still haven't received any instructions from G4S about their duties. They don't know what they will be doing. Or where. Or when.
You can be sure that any wanabee terrorists are fully aware of these scandalous security shortfalls.
The icing on the cake is that Locog (the games' organising company) has awarded G4S an extra £60million for all their good work.
