Andre Santos

Post by Arsenal Till I Die »

What is everyone's overall opinion on him?

Sell him? Keep him?

Personally, I think we should keep him but use him in an attacking sense rather than a LB. His attacking capability is clear and given the opportunity he does make those bombing runs past defences (rare yes but he does do them given the chance). With Arshavin likely to be off and a possibility that Ryo may go out on loan again, I think having him as a back up LW wouldn't be too bad.

A new LB is a priority though...

i like him as an attacking player but would like to see a more defensive full back in our back line.

I think he would be better suited to being a Left Side Mid-fielder....isn't afraid to have a crack on goal from outside the box..he deffo has good balls skills., but seems a little 'slow' in his decision making...- and can be a liability as one of the last line of defence..this is the season he either stands up to be counted or (yet) another waste of money.

Fat bastard, can't believe he hasn't been caught out more defensively so far. That said I can't bring myself to dislike him.

Don't get the idea about using him as a winger though. Surely just buy a winger instead of trying to use a failed full-back there?

He's a joy to watch but a little too suspect defensively.

Nobody else wanted him for a reason, he looks overweight and isn't very good. If Gibbs is a better option at left back then we're seriously fucked in that position.

Don't like him very much as a player, but you know, wenger knew he was shit defensivly when he was signed. At Fenerbace he was a LW since he got there.

We have a left back problem, because Gibbs is frequently injured, and Santos is abysmal as a left back.
Hideous sense of positioning.

As a left midfielder, he is OK, worth a place on the bench; rather see his positive runs than a laid back Arshavin.

We need to buy a left back.

In all honesty, Armand Traore was better as a left back.

I agree with everything here, except the last line.

He's no left back but he is a natural left sided midfielder ,good on the ball can pass and score goals ,needs to lose a bit of Timber but I like him !

The simple thing is that Wenger bought him as a left back. That says it all!

He's a fat bastard but at least he has a run at the oppo when going forward - which is more than can be said of The Lazy Russian...

But he's pants as a left back. :x

For this reason alone he should be captain:
