That would certainly make sense, you can't rock the boat and then expect to carry on as normal although is Wengers really man enough to.do that?
I have my doubts.

And people try to say it about trophies and not money. If we offered him 15 million a year he would stay with us. Fans and the media really overplay how important trophies are to the players I think. Its us the fans that trophies are important to, because we are the only constant in football. Players, manager etc come and gomcdowell42 wrote:http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sp ... riker.html

Re: Van Persie saga, officially not extending contract.
So a tabloid known for exaggerating and sometimes even making up stories claims that Van Persie wants £10m a season and you automatically believe it and say it therefore invalidates RVP's supposed reason for moving, and - to paraphrase - proves he's a greedy *word censored*?
Even if what they claim is correct, the wages that Robin is allegedly being offered by the club (£130,000 pw plus a £5m signing bonus) isn't far short of that total, so I doubt it's all down to wanting more money.
Indeed, look back at interviews Robin gave when he signed a contract extension in 2009 and you see that he said then he was re-signing for Arsenal not because of the money (at the time several big clubs were after him and he could have got bigger wages elsewhere) but because they assured him that they matched his ambitions to win trophies - and that is what he wanted to do, ideally with Arsenal.
Now even a cursory glance at what's happened at the club since then tells you that the 'ambition to win trophies' that Arsenal claimed to have has been nothing but a delusion, so in my opinion Robin has every right to say he won't fall for that bullshit again.

Well he more than played his part in the club not winning any trophies since he signed his last contract from the comfort of the injury table.

I mean everyone and his dog uses any newspaper story they can get their hands on to beat the shit out of Wenger with and literally call it gospel
I'll say it again, when all the latest batch of MILLIONAIRE football players retire the only thing they'll consider as "trophies" is the pretty wife, bentleys, mansions, etc etc, they won't be bothered about going to find their little bits of tin shoved in a box somewhere that said he the won a fekin league
The only players that football trophies count for are those that made a fraction of the ones now and end up selling said trophies to avoid bankruptcy.
It's money money MONEY to players that's it, a job.........accept it.

Good job money means nothing to our £7m a year managerLeftfootlegendGooner wrote:I Hate Hleb wrote:So a tabloid known for exaggerating and sometimes even making up stories claims that Van Persie wants £10m a season and you automatically believe it and say it therefore invalidates RVP's supposed reason for moving, and - to paraphrase - proves he's a greedy *word censored*?

Exactly, I'm not defending wenger at all, everyone involved in modern football is in it for the money, even the parents that force their kids to play footie day in day out from the age of 5, they're thinking of their kid as a nice little pension otherwise they would help their education so they're little ones can qualify as doctors, lawyers etc, surely. The game retains nothing of what I grew up loving

Who's the highest paid onlinegooner player?...I've heard that Frank's negotiated a Fry-Up before and 5 pints after the game as part of his contract.LeftfootlegendGooner wrote:donaldo wrote:Good job money means nothing to our £7m a year managerLeftfootlegendGooner wrote:I Hate Hleb wrote:So a tabloid known for exaggerating and sometimes even making up stories claims that Van Persie wants £10m a season and you automatically believe it and say it therefore invalidates RVP's supposed reason for moving, and - to paraphrase - proves he's a greedy *word censored*?

Hmmm...he should have contacted me before negotiations, if I'd been his agent those pints would have been accompanied by a bag of pork scratchingsarseofacrow wrote:Who's the highest paid onlinegooner player?...I've heard that Frank's negotiated a Fry-Up before and 5 pints after the game as part of his contract.LeftfootlegendGooner wrote:donaldo wrote:Good job money means nothing to our £7m a year managerLeftfootlegendGooner wrote:I Hate Hleb wrote:So a tabloid known for exaggerating and sometimes even making up stories claims that Van Persie wants £10m a season and you automatically believe it and say it therefore invalidates RVP's supposed reason for moving, and - to paraphrase - proves he's a greedy *word censored*?

Re: Van Persie saga, officially not extending contract.
Initially I had some sympathy for Van Persie and the ambition bit. Waning quickly. If this idiot club ever have the affrontary to sell him to United, and indeed if he wants to go there, will feel sickened like never before. If he goes there, and stand reeady to be shot down in flames, I will boo him for 90 minutes if he has the front to play at The Emirates.

Like he chose to be injured because he wanted to sit back and just draw in the money!!Gunnersaurus wrote:Well he more than played his part in the club not winning any trophies since he signed his last contract from the comfort of the injury table.
