Best ever pre-season game??

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

What's the best ever pre-season game you've been too?

I'll start with Arsenal vs Spuds at Wembley 1988, Arsenal 4 Spuds 0. Greatest pre-season game ever IMO :barscarf:

Norwich away in '97 or '98 when we won 5-1 and I spent the entire afternoon trading 'banter' with their home stand. 8) :lol: :wink:

Ahhh The Makita Trophy. Them were the days. Beating Milan in the final at Wembley in 88. I used to love that shit!

When I saw the thread title this is what I immediately thought of. 8) :barscarf:

The spuds had fatboy gazza making a big splash while our £500.000 bargain in Brian Marwood stole the show and we crushed them in style.

Oh those were the days.

My mistake it was 1971 the double year of course not 72 because we chose to play a challenge match v Benfica rather than play in the shitty Charity Shield

Also Charlie you must remember the 3rd and 4th place play off game v Wolves for the losing FA cup semi finalists in 73.Thats a game they should bring back :lol: :lol:

Yes remember that one mate, think we lost 3-1 :roll: and someone called Brendan Hornsby scored our goal :wink: After the Benfica game I really had the false sense that we were totally invincible and would dominate football for years to come :| Little did I know that the next time we'd win a trophy I'd be a 20 year old adult getting pissed and stuff :lol:
