Agreed Augie - as any right minded Gooner should, however, these past 7 seasons/years have seen us gradually slide into that shady area just below the Clubs still referred to and seen as BIG(manure and now man$hitty) - to such an extent that many are (again) predicting that both the chavs and scum will finish above us.....and unless the rot is halted immediately and completely - that perception of Arsenal by other fans , pundits etc will only become more entrenched...and THAT IS UNFORGIVEABLE.
Rather than start another Wenegr thread I'll add this thought here.
If (and it's an if the size of Western Europe) Arsene was deposed or quit, would you trust our board to appoint anyone competent? I want Wenger to quietly go away but dread the thought of Fat Allardyce, for example, taking over.

What I'm most concerned about is that Wenger will be allowed to cherry pick his successor. In that case we can only pray he goes for someone like Klopp who knows how to organise a team and not someone as equally clueless as him.

I cant see wenger extending beyond 2014. I think we are stuck in our rut until then at least. Hopefully the landscape of the boardroom will be completely different then, thus Wengers input into his successor will be 0%.
On another note has anyone else started noticing that AKB’s have shifted their main argument in defence of Le Proff now to a “its better the devil you know” sort of stance from the “in arsene we trust” mantra. It seems to me they even know the game is up for Wenger, but still insist on blindly defending him despite the malaise in front of their eyes, as "If we got rid of Wenger then who could replace him"?.
One muppet I was even arguing with on another forum gave me the following pearler. If the board got rid of wenger , then the new manager would have the same financial constraints as wenger did, and most definitely wouldn’t be able to spot rough diamonds like wenger can, thus we are better sticking with him.
I just love the world AKB’s live in. They just think that only one manager in this whole world has a UEFA pro licence, and that man is Wenger. No other manager in the world today has experience of running a football team, and certainly hasnt ever seen other players play don’t you know don’t you know.

Wenger is not a great big money chequebook manager - always surprised when RealMadrid were linked (although maybe that was mostly to strengthen Wenger's contract negotiating position)
but he is indisputably good at building players confidence and improving players (if not holding on to them)
if you have a high wage, low fee model Wenger's as good as there is out there
even if leProf gets kidnapped my aliens/hit by a bus/joins a convent there's no reason to think Kroenke, Gazidis et all will look to change the model
the longer Wenger runs a balanced books CL club the better a position the next manager will be in
