RvP U-turn! Robin van Persie now wants to STAY at Arsenal as Gunners eye £7m move for Ajax star

Van Persie’s complaints about Arsenal failing to buy at the top end of the transfer market have been silenced as Giroud, Podolski and Cazorla have been brought in

Robin van Persie is set to make a dramatic U-turn and stay at the Emirates.

Arsenal’s star striker made it clear at the start of the summer that he wanted to move on because of the club’s lack of ambition.

Arsene Wenger ordered van Persie to stay at home and miss Arsenal’s tour of the Far East.

But, significantly, the Dutchman, who is 29 on Monday, will be part of the Arsenal party that heads to Germany on his birthday.

Club insiders believe van Persie, who has a year remaining on his contract, now wants to stay.

The next challenge will be for the club to table a contract that gets him to commit to the club for the long term.

The summer signings of Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud, as well as the imminent arrival of Spain international Santiago Cazorla, in a £9million deal from Malaga, have impressed the captain.

We asked La Liga expert David Cartlidge what Arsenal fans can expect from Cazorla. Click here to read his scouting report on the Spain man.

There is also the prospect of Holland team-mate Gregory van der Wiel arriving for £7million.

+++++

Gathering a bit of pace now this RVP u-turn? Hmmm..

Newspapers have to seel their papers, so don't trust them.....they know shit......

Also van der Wile rumor...nice, but not true i reckon

I wonder what RVP is thinking now ?

No seems willing to offer more than 15 million for him and we have made some fantastic signings with a good possibility of more to come.
Hopefully he apologises to AW and just signs the contract.

It always has been. I remember discussing this with a few on here early in this thread, and I said that he was looking for one last big payday (can't blame him for that in many ways). He's being made to look bloody stupid with him statement now.

I read last week that he wants 190,000 a week and as you know we offered 130,000. If Manchester United are willing to pay Rooney £200,000 a week and they dont have a Billionaire then maybe we should give him his contract and if it does not work out this season due to injury or whatever then sell him next season. If United are willing to take on the gamble with RVP then maybe we should. This is coming from a fan who thinks the wages in football are a disgrace.

If and when he stays, he will tell the world that he only said it because he so wanted the club to succeed and how he didn't really want to leave but had to say it to get the club to do something......................and if you believe all that!!

You don't need to believe it though, if he stays, signs and gives 100% then that's all you need to care about.

Thing is, all eyes are on Van Persie now because the club have made a statement of intent (I don't care what anyone says, Podolski, Giroud and Cazorla are great players) and I'm far from an AKB but I'm currently pleased with what the guy is doing and if Van Persie still feel that the club are showing ''lack of ambition'' then go and enjoy that 220k a week cheque at United.

deffo not getting my hopes up but if he was to sign a new contract and gave 100% on the pitch then ya cant really fault him much rather have him playing for us than against us

Football fans are fickle, if RVP bangs in a hat-trick first day of the season I wont care at all about the statement. Once you stop holding footballers up to being something they aren't any more, it comes down to the fact that this is their job.
