Van Persie saga, officially not extending contract.

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Agree with most of you on here though, he has to go after what he said and how he said it. 1 good season in 8 after we stood by him all that time. I would have thought Wenger felt gutted with his statement.

Disrespectful prick. It may be what us fans have thought for a long time, but for our captain to publicise it like he did? Naa, he's done for me.

There are pictures of RVPfrom this mornings coaching session on .com

I think he wasn't gonna be going anywhere today bar the AFC hotel for some rest

Off topic but that reminds me of an email I sent to some mates that was quoted as "Steven gerrard video in pub brawl", when they opened it a half sized window appeared on the screen of 2 guys at it and one bouncing up and down on the others nuts  then a message appeared and said "how many times are you gonna watch him bounce!" with a big counter ticking away, when you tried to click on it to shut it down it moved to a different part of the screen, one mate sent it to all his colleagues in an office and they ended up shutting the whole network down to get rid of it  another had to call dell to stop it and said he's never gone so red faced in his life  whenever I turned up at our golf course
Mates would go " you fucker I tried to shut it down but ended up covering my screen up at work cos people were staring at it" fekin funny as fuck

The two muppets on TalkSport (Durham & Gough) are saying it's virtually a done deal with Man Utd. If this is true, and let's be honest, most of TalkShite's output is crap, then it ranks alongside Stapleton and RVP will never be welcomed back. I feel it's gone so far, he can't do a U-Turn, as his mind is made up. Thanks for last season, but good riddance to another money-grabbing mercenary. Sign of the times I suppose!

A lot of hypocrites on here methinks - last season the lesbo left to join citeeh and he was (rightfully) slated by all and sundry on here saying that if he really left to win medals then he would have joined manure instead of citeeh but now fast forward a year and rvp has made it known that he won't join citeeh but is meant to be interested in joining manure and we are still saying it is money motivated.........make up yere decking minds ffs  Fact is that rvp made a public statement that was 100% correct and the club have reacted by spending some money in anticipation of his departure and that of a few others. If we had of splashed the cash in other areas of the pitch (DM, left full, back up keeper) that needed correcting then it would have allowed rvp to do a u turn stating his hope that we could now challenge again but of course we only spent money to replace what wee are losing and the key areas are still not addressed but there will be no room for van persie to stay now anyway :( All very handy for those who wish to tag the guy as a mercenary

Cast your mind back, the reaction to the two players was very different. Brady going to Italy was NEVER the same as Stapleton to Utd. There are such things as rivals! I never felt ill-feeling with Brady wanting to play abroad.

So I haven't contributed for some time now but these are Just some of my thoughts!

Some or your are ridiculously rose tinted, i have supported arsenal all my life, but if i had to make the choice at 29/30 of where to finish my career, with the clubs as they currently are, i wouldn't even have to think about it, i would sign that united contract quicker than Fergie could print it!

Guess what, United, as big a bunch of %$^&'s as they are, THEY ARE GOING TO WIN SOMETHING, or at the very least, challenge for more than 65% of the season!

the team is already full of winners, with the mentality that what they have won is not enough!

i would know that everyone in the starting 11 (including myself) had earnt their place in that team!

my manager is tactically astute enough to change the team depending on who we are playing!

if i get injured, that will not mean im handed over to arsenals medical staff and my season over!

Yes i love arsenal, but that does not mean im blinded to the fact that we are NOT a top team anymore and havent been for some time!

Those of you who say its about the ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!
Think about it, the two clubs that want you MAN UTD and MAN CITY

BOTH offer a more or less equal chance of winning silverware
BOTH are in the same city
the only other variable to help your decision is your wages, in that scenario, of course you go for whoever offers you more, its not being a money grabber, its being sensible!

To whoever said that Wenger has gone on this spending spree, not because someone dare question his inability but because we finished 18 points behind manchester, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN FOR THE LAST 3 SEASONS????

and ok he may have finally spent some money and bought decent players but that doesn't necessarily mean the way the team play, is set up, its mentality or attitude are going to change!
To make an analogy, if your baking a cake and throw the correct ingredients in the baking tray without the right amounts or without mixing them up, your not going to have a cake.
The same goes for our team, hes thrown some good new ingredients in but, he doesnt know how much or the correct way to mix them up!

for those that say he OWES US for standing by him when he was injured, does he??????
Does Jack Wilshere owe us for sticking by him? or do arsenal OWE THEM for ruining their bodies with inept medical staff or treatment???
We all slate our medical team but then you argue tha our players owe them, if i went to a doctor who misdiagnosed me and ment i couldnt work (win trophies), wouldi go back to him? WOULD I FUCK!!!!!!!

If SSN is correct then RVP will be signing for our dearest rivals Man United

This for me will a very sad day.

The player has been with us for eight seasons and all but one he has been on treatment table.
The player has had one fantastic season and a few not bad seasons
The player has scored well over 100 goals for the club
The player who says he loves the club has now put the dagger into the heart of the fans.
If he joins Man Utd he will be slaughtered.
He will be lighting the blue touch paper.

If he goes I won't goad, or slag off or even respond to the vitriol

But RVP..you will get everything you deserve.
This morning you wore our training kit....by tonight you could be discussing a move to Man Utd.
Stapleton was one thing, but the is a real kick in the teeth.

Fill your boots lads.
