I just did a quick look on http://www.virgintrains.co.uk/ for fares on the Sunday morning of the Liverpool game and an adult off-peak open return is £74.20.
That's you benchmark. Check http://www.redspottedhanky.com/, http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/, etc. for possible cheaper fares.

Crocit will no doubt be on here soon and he'll tell you how to get a fare for under £10, and still have enough change for a fish & chips supper!!

Re: Bin-Dippers Travel Help Needed
We went via Manchester Piccadilly last time, got train to Manc then local train to Lime Street, cost us £38 return
bit longer but beer will while away the journey there and deffo get a seat and kip on the way back!

Re: Bin-Dippers Travel Help Needed
Even if you got a weekend open return on saturday morning it would only cost you around £75. Get £15 upgrade to 1st class sorted.
Re: Bin-Dippers Travel Help Needed
Euston to Lime Street, changing at Birmingham New Street, London Midland services only = £28 return.
Admittedly it takes a lot longer, the only train that will get you there in time leaves Euston at 07.50...
