As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Do you not think that his general lack of composure in front of goal and tendency to hide instead of show for the bal in crowded situations will hold him back? Not to mention a dubious touch and average (at best) movement.
At the moment he has one run which turns full-backs inside out, which is the ball slotted between CB and LB with him making an attacking diagonal run. I think that if he goes up front his only regularly useful outlet will be the through ball against a high-lined defence/on the counter-attack.

He could surprise the whole footballing world and turn out to be a better striker than Henry
But then again maybe I shouldn't think about something like this whne I'm drunk

Oh my god... more calls for Wally Walcott to play up front... people have short memories... don't any of you remember his classic numerous misses when in a one to one situation... which far outweigh his occassional scores when in the same position... a positive transfer window for me will be for him to fuck off along with Song.
Theo will never score upwards of 15 in a season. He is - and will remain - a utility player with occasional sparks of brilliance and then he flickers out again. So frustrating to watch.
It seems as if everybody thinks that ALL of us want to keep him. I don't. He's 29, injury prone, has completed just 1 season, wants over 150k a WEEK, wants out of Arsenal and tbh he simply isn't in the same league as Henry, Viera and Pires in their prime. I would laugh so hard if UTD bought him for 30m (why not they spent that on berbaflop) only for him to get injured a few months in. Did RVP even play that well in the final 1/4 of last season? It seemed we missed Arteta more when he was injured. Also lets learn from history shall we. Remember Henry when he changed his mind after the CL final and opted to stay at Arsenal? Yeah we could of got 50m for the guy from Barca. Who know what would of happened with 50m transfer funds. Maybe we would of bought Xabi Alonso when Benitez was flogging him in the streets chanting 'boy for sale'. Instead we had to hear things like 'at X years old there's no resale value' etc etc. And what happened after that season? he had a pretty average by his standards season, got injured, went for a paltry 16m. We don't need RVP. We need Fabregas and Nasri because they were young and usually fit and reliable players. We have done VERY well this summer. I am actually smiling at how well we have done. I was predicting another morgue of a summer but we have signed 3 very typical neo-arsenal marquee signings.
Podolski will do very well. Cazorla is going to be a magician for us and i'm not sure about Giroud but overall very pleasing. I definitely think we are stronger with this side than last side with RVP. Definitely dont fancy our chances with just RVP praying he dont get injured.
Clear out Bendtner, cham, Park, Squill and Arshavin, and get us a right back and we will be in the top 4 for sure.
I think the question is "how much can we get for RVP", because there is a figure - let's call it X - where below that the return on keeping him outweighs selling him. From what I last heard, Utd was offering 15m and we weren't biting.
We are fortunate not to "need" to sell him, and if he bangs in 15 goals, then that's probably worth potentially losing 15m. Not only that, if we manage to do well this season with our new players, he may want to stay after all.
Anyway, why wouldn't we want to keep him? If he's injury prone, we actually have backup players now. And if he doesn't get injured, hopefully he can stay at 70-80% of his scintillating form and that will be worth quite a few goals; while also opening up space on the pitch for players like Poldi, Theo, Giroud, Gervinho, etc.
If we could get 20-30m for him, I'd say sell him. But with the pithy offers coming in from the likes of Juve, City, United, it might just be worth it to absorb a loss and keep him for one more year before losing him on a free - assuming he does want to go somewhere at season's end.
And if you're suggesting replacing Sagna, who was one of our best players last year, that's just silly.

2 broken legs in the space of 6 months. Besides why shouldn't he have competition?

Do me a fcuking favour - you might want rvp sold and that is fair enough (even though I dont agree with the sentiment of your argument) but dont ever use the words "nasri and reliable" in the same sentence. The little lesbo c**t played for 3 months out of 3 years and when we needed him post xmas 2 seasons ago he went awol as is his norm. A fcuking c**t is what he is

Quite a few Pundits have said that if Man United get RVP then they suddenly have a real chance of the title again. If they fail its unlikely.
They also said that if Arsenal lose RVP then all the good work in the transfer market this season will be undone. Based on last season I agree with them.
Giroud and Chamkah or Giroud and Van Persie. YOU DECIDE

We are selling our best player for the 2nd summer running and we have not signed one defender when we conceded 49 goals last season. So things really are looking good
please sell rvp...please lets keep bedding in and rebuilding for fucking ever....what about all the deadwood trained to perfection by lord wenger to be mentally strong but shit on the pitch?..."unsellable"
