RIP Joe Kubert
Joseph Kubert (September 18, 1926 – August 12, 2012) was an American comic book artist and founder of The Kubert School. He is best known for his work on the DC Comics characters Sgt. Rock and Hawkman. His sons, Andy Kubert and Adam Kubert, have themselves become successful comic-book artists.
Kubert's other creations include the comic books Tor, Son of Sinbad, and Viking Prince, and, with writer Robin Moore, the comic strip Tales of the Green Beret.
Kubert was inducted into the Harvey Awards' Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1997, and Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 1998.

RIP Johnny Pesky
John Michael "Johnny" Pesky (born John Michael Paveskovich; September 27, 1919 - August 13, 2012), nicknamed "The Needle", was an American professional baseball player, manager and coach. He was a shortstop and third baseman during a ten-year Major League playing career, appearing in 1,270 games played in 1942 and from 1946-1954 for three different teams. He missed the 1943–1945 seasons while serving in World War II. Pesky was of Croat origin.
Pesky has been associated with the Boston Red Sox for 61 of his 73 years in baseball — from 1940 through June 3, 1952; 1961 through 1964; and from 1969 until his death. Pesky also managed the Red Sox from 1963–1964, and in September 1980. His biography is Mr. Red Sox by Bill Nowlin, published by Rounder Books.

RIP Vilasrao Dagadojirao Deshmukh
Vilasrao Dagadojirao Deshmukh (May 26, 1945 – August 14, 2012) was an Indian politician and served as Minister of Science and Technology and Minister of Earth Sciences.
Vilasrao Deshmukh was a Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha, India. He has previously held the posts of Minister of Rural Development and Minister of Panchayati Raj, Government of India and Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Government of India. He was a member of Rajya Sabha representing Maharashtra. Vilasrao Deshmukh was two-time Chief Minister of Maharashtra, from 1999 to 2003 and from 2004 to 2008. He was a member of the Indian National Congress and originally belonged to Latur district in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra.
Critically ill with kidney and liver failures, Deshmukh died on August 14, 2012 due to multiple organ failure at Global Hospitals, Chennai
