They also said that if Arsenal lose RVP then all the good work in the transfer market this season will be undone. Based on last season I agree with them.
Giroud and Chamkah or Giroud and Van Persie. YOU DECIDE
For United's part I hardly think a team that was crippled by injuries for much of the season and blew the title on goal difference has a real chance of the title regardless of whether they sign RvP or not. He's a quality player and our squad would obviously be stronger with him in it but his heart won't be in it (not to mention likely injuries and the fact he's unlikely to match last season's form), he won't be the same player and there will always be an undercurrent of discontent amongst the fans due to his conduct this summer. It just won't work.

I can see Walcott scoring that sort of number this season
he got about a dozen assists and a dozen goals last year and he's still young

he's also an extremely good finisher,
there's no forward in the world who hasn't missed a few 1on1s

Selling to United will show how right van perise was IMO regarding a lack of ambition, don't get me wrong, I think he's a disgrace but to strengthen United while weakening our own chances shows it's more about money than success.

If we really cared about success we would leave him on our bench and watch them go into the season having struggled to better their squad.

Why we don't just sell to juventus for less is beyond me, it's not money we are losing, he is our player on a contract, the money is not there to lose, he sees it out, we get our monies worth, we cash in, we cash in on our terms not United's so they can give the league a proper go with our help.

He's a *word censored* but we are bigger *word censored* for selling him to them.

The reason we didnt sell to Juve was once a player goes into the last year of his contract the player holds all the cards. The player decides where they go not the selling club.RVP made it known Utd were the only team he wanted to join so Juve and City were blown out of the water.Remember Wenger saying after Flamini left on a free that we would never let a player go into his last year.Well Nasri and RVP did.The club only has themselves to blame. If a player has two years left on his contract and wont sign a new contract then sell them

I'm not aware van Persie has ever said that he wants to join United rather than City? It's just City don't seem interested in a bidding war and United are the only club that looks like meeting the asking price.

I've said it before, imagine if we would have given RvP a 4-year contract on £100k/w at the end of last year and then he'd have got injured for half the season or more (as he'd done each of his previous 7 years), people would have been questioning why somebody with such a bad injury record had such a long-term lucrative deal.

I fully agree that the way the club generally conducts its contract policy leaves a lot to be desired, but in the case of RvP I don't actually attach much blame to them. It's just unfortunate that he's decided to have his phenomenal season in the penultimate year of his contract.

So.... Captain's programme notes will need to be written by tomorrow in order to be printed in time. What a fucking farce.

Just when you think you've seen the most hilariously stupid, protracted, farcical transfer saga involving the captain, Arsenal manage to outdo themselves just 12 months later!

If he goes to Manc scum I will always fondly remember him as the biggest *word censored* ever to leave The Arsenal. If he starts spouting all this shit about loving the club etc I'm sure he'll find out what the fans really think of him when he returns. Legendary status will be turned into cult hate figure. I thought he would stay

See, I don't buy into this. I've seen people comparing him with Ashley, Nasri, Adebayor today. Really?! :? I don't think he's handled himself well this summer and i'll be disappointed to see him join the Mancs, but a cult hate figure? He'll get a totally indifferent reaction from me when he rocks up AG playing for someone else...
