Van Persie saga, officially not extending contract.

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

how dumb are most of the fans saying ohh but we did show ambition making 3 signings. wake up idiots these players were signed for one reason alone. to replace rvp. they were not signed to complement him. get real fellas.

if as widely reported we do not spend this money on another quality striker (hopefully its yet more BS from AW), that is it for this club under the current regime, NO ONE can defend them after this if RVP isnt replaced. they dont give a shit about winning its all cash cash cash.

FFS arsenal replace him with lorente or someone and sign a DM this is it the tipping point. if nothig is done in terms of replacements hopefully the emirates will be ful of protests and anger, regardless of how well we are doing. even if we win our first 8 games, if we have no further proper additions the club cannot pretend to be ambitious or 'big'.

Along with Cesc he was one of the few last remaining world class players at the club since Henry left. We knew that, and you best believe he knew it too. He knows he should have been surrounded by better than Diaby, Denilson, Squillaci, Almunia, Ramsey, Gervinho....

Another sad day for us , the blame is with Wenger as far as I am concerned , Cesc was a top player and RVP one of the best strikers in the WORLD , he has gone to manure FFs , manure ,is that fuckin hideous or what .

What could Arsenal do ?
What could we do? Show some fucking bollocks for a start by not selling him to one of our biggest rivals. Sell him to Juve for less. Take a gamble, keep hold of him. I'd rather lose him on a free than see him go to those *word censored*. Granted he could join them next year for nothing, but also he could get injured. There's a chance utd may set their sights elsewhere in 12 months time. Fuck it, he could have even signed a new deal with us by then.

But this is Arsenal 2012, it's all about getting as much money as they can as quickly as they can. No matter who else benefits from it. Those *word censored* would sell him to spurs in a heartbeat if they came in with a decent offer.

I'm not defending RvP by any means, i think he handled this summer very poorly. But this guy is a top, top player. One of the best strikers in the world and he fucking wants to win things with us. We ignored his talents, just as we did with Cesc and surrounded him with total shite. This summer's signings came too late.

Pretending everything is OK by making out he'll be injured in a few months is pathetic, infantile and something spurs fans would come out with.
Sorry...but I'd rather the money IF we spend it .....we still have time to sort something out...if we don't I'm same as you towards the board/manager.
Ther was no chance of him going to Juve as the manager got a 10 month ban last week so UTD was the only option and I really believe RvP demanded this as there didn't seem to the (limp wristed) fight there normally is to keep our player.

All him going to those glory hunters proves is that he is a grade A :censored:

Still, I know how some on here like to immediately come out with "Podolski and Giroud aren't good replacements" despite them never playing a competitive game for us

I'm optimistic that the new boys will gel and, if we sign some defensive players DM and a LB would be nice) then I'd say that a cup isn't unlikely.

daryl you are on the wind up or just thick. rvp carried this team last year. he has been replaced by 2 unproven unwanted players. they may be good, they may not, but no one can say with a straight face that the forward line has been strengthened from last seaosn if o one else is signed in the wake of rvp's departure. (cazorla btw isnt a forward, he is a cesc/nasri replacement a year late)

I deleted it because a fellow mod decided to have a clean up of the stickies and stuck my tippers thread in cannonballs where it's not seen as much as it is in its proper place.

It won't be coming back as I worked hard two years go on, lost it due to the shut down of the forum last season and this year it was removed as the only sticky from this part of the forum.

I am sure no one really gives a shit and it's ok because my fellow mod doesn't respect me or any of the new mods whatsoever.

He wanted to go, simple as that. AFC could keep him here against his will, and we'd get one half-assed season out of him where he would probably be 60% invested in our fortunes and 40% just trying to avoid injury so he can leave.

At that point, you might as well take 20m and move on.

At least now we have Giroud, Podolski and Cazorla, three capable offensive players instead of relying on one injury-prone superstar.

As well, if you think RVP was going to bang in another 30 goals next year, you'd be kidding yourself. He's still going to score a ton of goals, don't get me wrong, but he wouldn't have repeated the same heroics this year in an Arsenal kit even if he WAS fully trying.

Full article to come on CanadianGunners, promise you guys that.

Thanks for the part that was directed towards me

Fuck it I was looking forward to that competition during the season and it seemed like a good way of keeping people in the forums. Seems a strange decision alright.

Fair play for being willing anyway Sammy

did your tipping thread make it into the RIP thread, mate? :( :(

Genuinely disappointed it's not running this year (it was the only thing in life I was any good at   ) but thanks for running it the last couple of years mate. You're a legend! :barscarf:

That sucks Sammy. I was looking forward to it as well. Perhaps said mod can be replaced by augie? Maybe start a thread for it? What do you think?
