Is MUFC really that strong?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

MUFC are not as strong as they used to be but they have a winning mentality. They are experienced in mounting and finishing off title challenges. That's why Fergie really is a genius. He's done it consistently for nigh on 20 years. When he rebuilds squads they are still competitive. People complain about the money united have but Fergie has earned it. It's like complaining that a bloke who's moved up the property ladder should all of a sudden not enjoy a big house just because you happen to be living in some hovel. It's called jealousy. He's light years ahead of any other manager in the Premier League era. Absolute light years.

Their winning mentality wasn't there last year, yes they closed down an 8 point gap but they also lost an 8 point gap right at the death, that is not what you would expect from them, I'm not jealous just pointing out that their key players, the ones that have been the backbone of their success are all getting old and all they have done is ignore that and buy a trophy striker when in truth the ones they already have there scored plenty of goals for them.

Their best player last year was someone that they got out of retirement, that speaks volumes for the state of their squad and the young kids they have coming through.

Suppose we can only go on what we have seen and with all of their perceived flaws of ageing, crocked, new players, etc they still managed to miss out on gd only.
Dont wanna give the cnuts too much credit but I wish our manager could instill that type of winning mentality.

You keep saying this but that only tells half the story, yes they just missed out on winning the league but they missed out after being 8 points ahead with a few weeks to go, that doesn't show mental strength or winning mentality IMO, that is something you would expect from us.

True.
But you could also say they missed out after being 2 points ahead with only seconds to go.
Its the table at the end that matters over a whole season and with all of their flaws in midfield and defence Fergie was able to get them seconds away from another title. But thats Fergie for ya.

Why are Arsenal fans discussing Manure? Arsenal aren't even in their league.
Do I need to remind what their manager has won in 7 years compared to our incompetent crackpot corporate egotist?
It's hilarious hearing jokers claim "our midfield are close".
What that same midfield that was given a spanking by Swansea and lost 8-2 at OT?
Have ppl forgotten that last season, Arsenal went to OT in the FA Cup with their strongest team and a Manure team with eight defenders cained them?
How deluded are Arsenal fans!
Arsenal ain't finished above Manure in over six years. In fact in that period, Arsenal have only ever finished under 10 pts of ManYoo once. Just once.
ManYoo fight for league titles.
Arsenal aim for "top 4".
Until Arsenal can win as many trophies as Birmingham even within seven years, this kind of chat is plain embarrassing.

We have a go at LOLPool and Spurs claiming they're better than us. It's a similar situation in which we are comparing ourselves to United. Delusion is prevalent in both situations.

It's all Ferguson. For as long as he stays in charge, Man Utd will compete and win. The guy is top-notch in just about every area of football management and arguably the greatest of all time. I don't think their current side would do as well as it has under any other manager in the world.
