So looking at the rest of the league with Corzola and Wilshere coming back. Add Arteta and Ox then go down to Diaby and Ramsey, Walcott its not bad.
Just think we need to add some steal as a Song replacement and we are there.
Goals will come from midfield but the pressure is firmly on Giroud as apart from Podolski I dont see any other goals in our forward players.
Overall, I would agree with that. Once everyone is fit and that is probably pie in the sky, we have a very good midfield. However, even with people out it is still a good one.

I thought that there were more positives than negatives from the draw against Sunderland. I did see some evidence of tactical pressing when we don't have the ball which was encouraging. I also saw Diaby track back which made me shudder.

Podolski was kind of lost up front and I prefer Giroud in that position, though.

Problem for Giroud is he has to hit the floor running. As we have had a bad run with Adebayor, Bendtner, Chamakh the pressure is seriously on for a guy who only hit the big time last season. As hard as it is we will have to wait 10 games to see the real Giroud.
When I look back at Bergkamp and Henry it took about that long for them to adapt to the Prem.

Wilshire has been out for 18 months and hasnt kicked a ball yet what are the chances he breaks down again?.The Ox has played less that 10 games. Then the back up the usless Diaby and Ramsey. So looking past Arteta and Cazorla we aint that strong after all

Agreed. We'll be lucky to see Jack before October (when our lying dickwad medics say "a couple of weeks", they mean months) and then he has to get match fit. And he will pick up niggles and possible recurrance of the injury(s). :(

Would be surprised if (all going well) he is playing any serious football this side of December tbh. :( :(

Everybody seems to have forgotten Rosicky. He was up there with Arteta for our best midfielder last year. We do have good midfield options but still need a top DM. Manure have struggled in midfield for a couple of years and I doubt Kagawa will be able to rescue it himself. RvP was a bit of a vanity buy for Fergie, who will probably be retired before Utd start paying a 33 year old RvP 10 million a year.

No. I called you an idiot for claiming Walcott and Song were our best midfielders.

Spot on. Jack's injury has been completely mismanaged since day one. Why anyone believes his comeback won't be handled equally as shambolically is beyond me. I wouldn't trust that shower of buffoons with a paper cut.

I love it how, after 1 competitive game for us, people are ALREADY talking about Carzola leaving

"Well, this guy's good, so he'll be sold. Definately".

Like how we've sold Kos, Vermaelen, Arteta, Rosicky (Good when he is fit and, unlike Diaby, he is occasionally fit  ), Woj etc...

Anyway, I agree with the earlier comment about Giroud needing a few games to adapt to the PL. I don't think he was that bad against Sunderland, certainly not as bad as Le Tittier was making out :banghead:

Also, enough pessimism. Wilshere will be back at some point and yes it will take a while to find his form but he will find it. I'm sure of that.

Just need to replace Walcott and give Gervinho a good run of games and I think we're fine attacking...

As for defending though, we're far behind. Woj is a good keeper and will only get better. Remember, he's young. He's allowed to make mistakes, it's called learning. We have 3 good defenders, but we really need a new LB. I'd be happy to keep Mert as a reserve incase Koscielny or Vermaelen get injured. Same with Jenkinson with Sagna. We really need a new DM though. I know people on here seem to hate him, but I really do rate Frimpong. He's the muscle we need in a midfield made of small players made of glass  . Still, wouldnt want to play him week in week out otherwise I fear he will go the same way as Ramsey (A lot of promise, too much pressure, now the worst midfielder to play for us I can remember).

Anyway, can we please have some optimism? Give it a few more weeks for the new boys to get used to the PL, let players return from injury and give the team as a whole a chance...

And if it doesn't work, call for the bosses head and bring a banner  :barscarf:

midfield has been utd's weakness since ronaldo left and to a lesser extent since fletcher stopped playing.
