Interesting...But it is believed the Gunners wanted to make it a permanent move and the 23-year-old was only willing to leave the Bernabeu on loan.

Losing out on a player we badly needed to a shite team in the Europa League qualifiers.
What a small time joke Wenger FC are. Pathetic club under him...
This I agree with - if we were the only team in for sahin and we felt that Madrid were taking the piss over the buyout fee then refuse to pay it but when you are battling with other clubs for his signature then you gotta accept that their interest automatically will drive the price up so at that stage you have to decide if he is a player that you really rate and if he is then just pay the fcuking money

There is also talk of Sahin being involved in a Modric to Spurs deal.
No point criticising our club or Wenger over the deal, none of us know the ins and outs and it may be a case of the club acting wisely against a Madrid negotiating team who drove too hard a bargain.
I bet that two weeks ago only a quarter of this Forum had even heard of Sahin; I know I had not, so no way I am suddenly going to act so upset over him not signing.

Course rodgers was with Mourinho *word censored* for some time - so had the inside betting on it...even so we should have had this in the bag..
Mata last season - what a difference he would make to our team and now sahin ..It FUCKING STINKS

There will also be an option to buy the player for £14m at the end of the loan.Demun210 wrote:BBC are reporting this now too : http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19364375
Had a horrible feeling this was going to be the outcome, very frustrating.
I think that blows the whole buy out clause theory out the water- £14m is a steal if he can perform the way he did at Dortmund. It also seems wages played a part in Reals end of the deal with the Scousers offering more money. All the more galling when you see Diaby in the treatment room earning his Kings Ransom.
Sahin would have been a great signing but once again the small details cause major problems and the deal is derailed.

Some of us not knowing about him is neither here nor here quartz - fact is that sahin is very highly regarded by all knowledgeable footie people and was wanted by the people running our club so it is nothing short of a disgrace if we lose out on signing the guy having been the favorites to sign him for a few weeks now

Wenger better has another top class midfielder lined up or shit is gonna go down

On the bright side it could be one more nail in Wenger and the board's coffin
I live in hope
And yes I'm well aware the final nail should have been hammered in a long time ago

Losing Sahin is fine as long as we fill that CM/DM spot with talent. Talent that can make a difference now, not later.
If we lose Sahin and the best we do is some <10m no-name from God knows where, who doesn't perform very well, I'll be furious.
I hope this isn't a Hazard sort of thing all over again.
The fact is, Sahin would rather come here but Arsenal aren't willing to foot a bigger portion of the bill. Mind you I don't think Sahin is worth 90k a week. It's hard to moan when you don't know the details - to be honest, Liverpool might be seriously overpaying; as we all know they love (Carroll) to (Henderson) do (Downing) that.

Re: Rumours, Rumours, Rumours but all of them a load of old
Well it looks like another one has slipped through the net due to our abhorrent policy of having to try and whittle down every deal to suit the purse strings of the board and manager. I am sick of hearing about players that we refuse to sign because they cost too much, we couldn't get that extra 25p off, for christs sake we are a football club, competing at top level (apparently), we are not in a shop trying to get a discount on a purchase. I am frustrated with our stupid saying, we dont buy superstars we create them, or as it should be, we create superstars and then we sell them. We should be in the market buying quality players for their worth, rather than trying to get players in on a knock down price. The board and our manager seriously need to take a step back and look at what our club is becoming (a laughing stock), and realise that we simply cannot continue to always do business this way. We have no problem selling a player for what they are worth, but we cannot buy them for the same. That lucritive 4th placed trophy is not our only ambition.
I am sorry but this latest nail in the coffin for Wenger is enough, he needs to go, and the board with him. If our players wont stick to their contracts then mr Wenger shouldnt feel abliged to either. We need fresh blood at Ashburton Grove, someone with the desire and tenacity to achieve great things, something our club was once doing on a regular basis. I would take Guardiola in an instant, I am sure I am not alone in this thinking, he is young and has the desire to win and passion for the game.

AUGIE
There has to be more to this deal.
It could be a case of us messing up negotiations, as Gooner.Ed has claimed we did over Vertonghen?
But maybe the player was simply offered more money by Liverpool and it was over the top?
Maybe Sahin felt that after time as a fringe player at Real Madrid he would not get sufficient playing time with us either; that a trio if Wilshere, Arteta and Cazorla would keep him out of the side whereas he could fit in well with Lucas and Gerrard and that Henderson, Shelvey, Spearing and Adam were not threats to his place?

Re: Rumours, Rumours, Rumours but all of them a load of old
Some reports claimed Wenger had been trailing him for 7 years, so why are there claims he wasn't 100% sure on deal?
I did read a quote from mourinho stating something along the lines that Sahin lacked qualities that he would learn from playing in the premier league. Could this be a sticking point?
Has the walcott situation provoked this pull out, and instead focus attentions on a certain Jesus Navas we have been linked with? After all we could always get de jong from city on the cheap/loan and he will hit the ground running.
Couldn't forsee a permanant deal happening with jack and frimpong due back in oct, especially with le boss' favourite diaby seemingly fit.

=Re: McDowell's "Lies, damn lies, and rumours thread."
He,s off to the victims. They have agreed to pay more of his wages than tightwad wenger, the whole saga was a fucking pr charade, as i said earlier Wenger has already stated we have enough midfielders
