fair enough but if reports are true and sahin was costing up to £10mill fee and wages for a year then surely it was not a good deal.rodders999 wrote:Just like when we penny pinched and lost out on Alonso it seems the miserable bastards are still losing out on quality players by trying to do everything on the fucking cheap

It is scary to think that Vertongha maybe decided on Spurs ahead of us. Corzola went to MALAGA !!!!!!!!!!!!! ahead of us last season and now Sahin is choosing Liverpool ahead of us !!!!!!!.
Something is still very wrong at Arsenal FC.

Once famously known as The Bank of England club. We are now more like a local church thrift fund

I think people may be overacting a tad about this sahin deal, no one knows all the ins and outs, especially all the twatty bloggers on twitter!
If there was no option to buy him at the end of season how would we sell the guy to barca/city?

Re: McDowell's "Lies, damn lies, and rumours thread."
Things that frustrate me...
1) We don't have a proper world class holding midfielder (pre/post Song).
2) We have a rich owner yet penny pinch over everything (in any other business a great thing but in football if your not going forward your going backwards)
3) A manager who appears to be to stubborn to evolve like the rest of football has.
4) A club that no longer sees us as fans, just customers.
5) People who pointlessly keep harping on about locking this thread (it's about rumours, i'm interested to see who we are linked with and other fans views on them, but have been through enough disappointment to realise 99.9% are false, if you don't like it or can't cope then don't read, if you can't not read this thread then clearly a part of you is interested, so don't be so hypocritical)!
Current opinions:
Sahin - would love but not vital, just immensely disappointed given how close we came.
M'Vila/Martinez/Tiote/De Jong - vital
Navas - don't see the point
Left Back - need
Back up Centre Back/right back/goalkeeper - need
I noted that Anita who the barcodes signed was highly rated and can play DM/LB/RB, not seen him but sounds like potentially could have been very good for us at the right price.

Re: McDowell's "Lies, damn lies, and rumours thread."
Are people seriously over reacting on this now?
Slightly staggered that Liverpool are paying 7 mil upwards (rumoured to be 9 in total) for a player they have no option to buy on.
As dissapointed as I am he isn't signing, I can't knock Arsenal's stance on it. We clearly wanted the option to buy, and there is no point paying that amount for someone who we will be essetnially developing for Real.
Hopefully some movement in the market now from Wenger. M'Villa looks the player we're crying out for who is actually available.

Re: McDowell's "Lies, damn lies, and rumours thread."
Sahin = cracking player. Not what we are crying out for IMO but would have been great to have him as it would have lessened the burden on Arteta and Wilshere (if he ever comes back)
The money that is being talked about is ludicrous and if there was no option to buy (bearing in mind we would probably need to match his reported e120k PW if we were to buy) It's probably a not as disgraceful as some people make out.
Shame - I would have loved him to be an arsenal player as he has 'super quality'
Now let's sign a PROPER defensive midfielder!

Wenger claims there could still be more activity in the transfer market yet.
It says so on the official site, IT MUST BE TRUE

The very first post on this thread talks about M'Vila and he's STILL being discussed on this thread 324 pages later...
