Ox had an ankle injury, so not a surprise he was on the bench.Yankee_Gooner_Dandee wrote:the simple fact that Ox was on the bench while the complete waste of space known as Gervinho got the start tells you all you need to know about Wenger's knowledge of this team and this game. Clueless.

Giroud plays a bit like Nial Quin did in his early years at Arsenal .

Re: Stoke v Arsenal match thread
There is no escape this season at all. Van Persie was our quality man and he has gone. I honestly think that Podolski is past his best and Giroud is another Chamakh.
On a positive we do look harder this season and wont be pushed around like little kids. Still the game yesterday was shocking in terms of quality and its get your DVDS out time to watch Arsenal when they were good. Prem League is harder than ever this season and Arsenal will feel that.
We are not alone mind you as Madrid lost to Gadaffi yesterday

To be fair, Baba, it is probably because the Utd and Chelsea teams don't have a load of new players to bed in. Especially where 50% of your first two lines of attack are new.Babatunde wrote:For the benefit of the slow: I'm not judging Giroud on the basis of two games.
I'm judging him based on years of watching him in French football (including watching comical performances at Tours)
He's crap. It's not hard, it really is that simple.
He might score a couple against Reading and West Ham but then afaik, Chamakh started off well against Wolves and Blackpool
Giroud is rubbish but let's revisit this convo in May 2012, when I'm sure, like Chamakh, he will "need a year of adaptation"
Funny how players like Hazard and Kagawa don't need a whole year to look quality eh?
Giroud may turn out to be crap, but he does have a physical presence that Chamakh never had and he isn't afraid to shoot, which Chamakh didn't do. Both which are encouraging.
Re: Stoke v Arsenal match thread
Oh well at least the whole hee-larious "do the Wenger" thing by their mongoloid fans never materialised, the game was so dull that there was barely any needle whatsoever.
The "loudest ground in the Premier League" flattered to deceive. Again.

Re: Stoke v Arsenal match thread
Pulis - Arsenal row uncontrollable.
Tony Pulis is not losing any sleep over the rivalry between his Stoke City side and Arsenal because he doubts he can do anything to affect the animosity.
Stoke on Sunday hosted the Gunners at the Britannia Stadium in the Premier League in an edgy goalless draw, with home fans jeering Arsenal players and manager Arsene Wenger.
The animosity dates back to February 2010 when Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey's leg was broken by Stoke's Ryan Shawcross, and the mood was evident at the weekend.
But Pulis thinks the matter is out of his control, as he said: "Irrespective of what I say or what Arsene says, you can't affect what people do.
Pulis happy with point
"As I've said, if I can't affect it, I don't worry about it and I personally don't think I can affect it.
Move on
"That's got to be other people doing that not me and that's got to be something that happens outside my sphere.
"You can say and I've said it before. That's gone. We've moved on."
Let us not forget why this *word censored* is so reviled by Gooners

Oh well then.
Nice of Pubis to acknowledge us singing "Pulis, you're a *word censored*" at him. Very gracious of the mongoloid-in-chief.

Think you will find that hazard and kagawa have joined two stronger clubs than our players have - those guys will be given time to bed in whereas some c**ts expect our new signings to carry the team on their backs already
Nah mate I'm aware Giroud couldn't carry an empty briefcase, so with me going on about how rubbish he is etc; it's kinda contradiction to claim in expecting him to "carry" Arsenal innit!

No no. I'd expect a Bergkamp or Zidane to carry Arsenal.
Giroud? All I expect is that when gifted a gilt-edged sitter in a platter, that you at least hit the target from 2 yards out. Note, I didn't say score! Yes better players have missed easy chances (eg RVP) but then again, they've made up for that with subsequent incredible goals (RVP v Charlton, RVP v Everton, RVP v Manure, see where I'm going yet?); or they've made up for it with exceptional play, assists etc.
Giroud can't dribble, and when he has a man running completely free in acres of space; he tries a ridiculous shot from 45 yards out, when the previous week he couldn't score from 2!!! Seems even Arsene agrees with me here, it's pathetic play from a striker of his experience to have NO idea or awareness of runners right alongside him.
He isn't 17 years old you know.
So I expect nothing of Giroud except to score sitters when presented, that's it.
If he does it then fair play, he'll be effective as Chamakh was for a half season. If he doesn't though then, fail to see the point sorry

Re: Stoke v Arsenal match thread
Donnez moi une break svp Baba,he couldn't see Ramsey who was struggling to make it and would have had to place it very neatly past players all running back .
No he hasn't set the world alight ,for me he looks like a poor mans Nicholas Bendtner rather than a RVP so far but there's still time for him to come good although I struggle to see why we bought him when he's so similar to the confident Dane.
Perhaps Head Scout Gilles Grimadi's could tell us more about the logic ,after all I'm sure he gets a nice slice of commission for everyone he brings to us !
3 Days to get a DM,Left Back and get Eboue back for cover on the right !

Nice way to cover yourself there, if he scores 30 2 yard tap ins then he will still be shit because they were not 20 yard volleys but you will still say fair play for doing what he's in the team to do....but he will still be shit because you watch loads of French football.

Re: Stoke v Arsenal match thread
Why are we talking about Giroud when by far the most diabolical player in an Arsenal shirt was Gervinho. Really really really bad. One point when he fell over the football under no pressure I just had to laugh
