Happy first birthday

I am sure Stan Kroenke will be quite happy to know that Arsenal supporters continue to blame Wenger for any problems.

Shameful is an understatement
I remember that league cup game as i was there too. I remember walking out of the ground and hearing the manc fans saying how good a game Paul Parker had had!! Now that hurt, and i begged my dad not to make me go to school the next day as, surprise, surprise most of the kids at school in the part of Kent i lived were Utd, or bin-dipper fans.
I actually saw 2 of the 3 games we lost that year- the other being the Chelsea game at the Bridge.
Thought i was becoming a bit of a jinx

Anyway, that game hurt a lot more than last years shamblolic display as it was unexpected.
I remember feeling at the time the 8-2 was always going to happen. Think it may be a more regular occurrence over the next couple of seasons, especially early on in the fixture list with Wenger only realising how shite the side he has assembled stumbles through the first few games.

In the 6-2 home defeat we got back to 3-2, and I thought at the time that we were back in with a shout.........alas.

Young Lee Sharpe, United first asian signing scored a hat trick but we consolidated with winning the league title :barscarf: :barscarf:

I had a feeling it was going to be one of those games when Blackmore's free-kick hit a divot and moved away from Seaman's hand and went in within minutes of the start.
Walked all round the stands that night trying to get a good view. Must have been 50,000+ in the ground. Don't get atmospheres like that anymore, but then i imagine that Highbury was full of genuine fans back then. Certainly less corporate wankers anyway.

The only small consolation was when the red scum got thrashed at home by city. Losing at home by a margin like that is equal to losing 8-2 away in my book.

Okay.....I'm grasping at straws. :(

If wenger genuinely loved the club then I feel he should have resigned after that game - surely seeing that he had brought the club down so low that it set a new record defeat would have shamed and embarrassed him enough to walk away ? That reaction proved yet again that the state of our club was less important to wenger than his own ego and agenda    Thing is, I said before that game that manure would beat us by how much they wanted to beat us but I don't think that they would beat us that heavily

Sammy - Yu need to CHANGE THE TITLE OF THIS THREAD. :box: :box: :box:

I did not sleep properly for at least a week after THAT 'Day of Shame'......to remember is easy because it is unforgettable in the History of The Arsenal and in my life as a Gooner, so any terms related to THAT 'Day of Shame' - is anything BUT happy.

Under wenker we have had some of the most embarrassing results in all my time (44yrs) of following Arsenal.

this is right up there - if not at the top.

Most humiliating defeat I can remember, truly one of the darkest days in the history of the club.

Purple nose's sympathy post match said it all. And how did we respond to them? By letting them take another 3 points at our place before selling them our captain and best player!

FUCK YOU WENGER, GAZIDIS AND KRANKY YOU SHOWER OF UTTER *word censored*

What irks me to this day is that we still tried to play tip tap.........any sane manager would have parked the bus and scrap it out but no we tried to play open football !

What's worse is that Wenger survived, no other top flight manager would have and I'm afraid that's down to us. Those who wanted him out myself included sat on our arses and allowed the akbs to display banners supporting him.
That I'm sorry to say will continue no matter what happens on the field.

^^^This x 100.

I sat there and looked at the team we had out and thought "even Wenger is not arrogant enough to think about playing tippy tappy tip tap with THESE players against THAT Manure line up" and then sat there stunned as he proceeded to do just that. Even when we were obviously getting a thumping with 5 or 6 already in, we were still tipping it around in lovely tight little triangles! I wasn't sure whether to laugh, cry or fucking throw up tbh. :cussing: :censored:

Wenger doesn't do tactics. We could find ourselves in exactly the same situation 100 times and each time we'd still try to play the same way :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

This was the first & only game i've ever left early, walked out after the 7th (!!) goal. It was just pathetic & embarassing. Merse summed it up best on SSN when he said that teams from much lower divisions will go to OT and put up more of a fight than we did :(

Agree with both posts 100% . . . . The players personal pride should have had them throwing themselves into tackles and kicking people at least but the whole tippy tappy bullshit has been bred into them to such a degree its all they know

Totally. Also, the whole laughing and joking with the Manure players at the end actually made me angrier than the tactics and performance put together. Fucking disgusting. :cussing:

Sure - never walk off in a huff after a drubbing, but never fucking joke and laugh with the Krunts that just humiliated you. Shake their hand, do not smile, get off the fucking pitch. :censored:

It was at this point that I went outside and kicked the garden shed to pieces - Honest - I totally demolished and KO'd that fucker into splinters....

Did it make me feel any better - not really - I then had to spend £120 on a new fucker after I remembered it didn't 100% belong to me.
