De Jong is being sold to AC Milan for a reported fee of 6 million Euros. To put that in context, that is more or less the equivalent of one year of Marianne Chamakh's wages
According to De Jong's agent, his client is on 'less than Gareth Barry'. Since Dejong was signed he hasn't had a fat new extension so he's been 'stuck' on £45k a week apparently, wanted parity with the bigger earners but Marwood said 'no dice'. So he's offski.

Still Arsene. 'No value in the market' eh?

Oh and Fulham are signing Berbatov apparently, who for my money, is better than any of the 'strikers' currently active in the Arsenal squad.

If you look at some of the deals out there (Dejong 6 million Euros, Dembele £15 million, Affelay on loan, Sahin on a loan deal, Kagawa available for just £12 million, Moses gone for £9 mil, Vertonghen £10 million, Cesar available for a tuppence, Granero on a free from Real, Llorente desperate to leave Bilbao, Jovetic available from Fiorentina, David Villa being frozen out at Barca etc etc)...

It's an absolute farce that Arsene Wenger FC are more concenred with making more cash-money.
There's a sea of players better than the absolute dross that permeates the current Arsenal squad. Just look at any top flight team in any major league and you'll find better options than Jenkinson, Santos, Djourou, Diaby, Chamakh, Walcott, etc...

Oh but we need to get rid of the excessive earners first...now, I wonder whose fault that could be for having a joke wage bill with a bunch of donkeys on golden carrots...hmmmmm....

Fuck it! would have loved him at Arsenal and with all the dealings between the two clubs recently surely we could have sorted a deal out
The clubs could have but wasn't De Jong on like 130K a week? No paycuts in this day and age!
I don't know what he was on but you're right he wouldn't drop wages i'm sure
That's the problem, if we're trying to sign players from the likes of City there's always another club (normally a Milan) willing to offer them the opportunity to maintain their wages. I'm not necessarily saying we should be going round paying De Jong £130k/w and Sahin £115k/w etc, but we need to completely break down this 'wage structure' we allegedly have because it stops us from nabbing some great players whilst ensuring we overpay and eventually get saddled with shit players (no need to go through the pain of a list because everybody knows who these players are!).

Transfer updates from 365...seems that the small clubs in the league ar more ambitious than Arsenal even...

11.12: There's talk of Fulham boss Martin Jol using that Dembele money to bring in as many as five new signings. Exciting times at the Cottage.

10.48: Here we go...Swansea and Manchester City have apparently agreed a fee for Scott Sinclair and he is due for a medical later today.

10.36: Tottenham Hotspur have opened negotiations with Ibrahim Afellay over a year-long loan move from Barcelona, according to Metro. These are exciting times indeed at Spurs.

10.15: Sky Sports understands Swansea have reached an agreement with Valencia to sign Spanish winger Pablo Hernandez in a 7million euro (£5.5m) deal.

10.00: BBC Sport understands that Arsene Wenger is currently at home in his bedroom, staring at posters of Abou Diaby and polishing his 3rd place trophy and self-sustainability medal from the past 7 seasons. Wenger's phone is currently switched off as he is believed to have no interest in strengthening a squad that is already, obviously, far too good at what it does (selling off its best players to domestic rivals for profit).

The Arsenal 'wage structure' is a total myth.
Proof: Arsene Wenger is on £130k a week, and is declared as earning more than proven winners like Ferguson, Mancini, Guardiola (whilst at Barca) and far more than CL winner Di Matteo.
No other club would accept this.

Before Thierry Henry left, he was on £125k a week, in addition to his £5 mil 'golden hello' payment he was offered.

Cesc Fabregas was offered a 'golden hello' one-off payment of £3 million to remain with Arsenal, whilst people go on about how RVP was offered £130k a week - that sound like a 'wage structure' to you?
Some clubs actually have one e.g. the Spuds it's well known, won't pay any player more than £70k a week, which explains why they've kept losing players. But Arsenal have no ceiling. It's a bullshit excuse that 'wage structure' is hindering Arsenal when they have happily paid mega-bucks to other players in line with the market when it's suited them.
It is just an apologetic excuse am afraid...

Juventus will launch a bid for Arsenal’s wantaway forward Nicklas Bendtner, after Manchester United’s Dimitar Berbatov reportedly snubbed the Italian giants in favour of a move to Fulham.

If this is accurate then we might have the extra £5.50 needed to secure the services of another 17 y/o French/African wonderkid.
There. all transfers will then be concluded. :banghead: :banghead:

Well the good thing to come out of yet another transfer window farce, is that Arsenal will not finish top 4 this season, not a hope in hell. So one way or another the club and Wenger will run out of luck and finally reap what they have sown for the last few years.
Unfortunately for us fans, there will be a few seasons in the doldrums, out of the CL places, fighting with Everton and Newcastle for 6th place, and the League cup being our only realistic hope of a trophy.....until Usmanov gets in and injects a large pot of money.

Listen, if we offload, song, vela, denilson, almunia and rvp from the wage bill then how can we not afford de jongs wages ? I know we have brought in 3 players but we have offload a load of players that must represent savings on the wage bill surely ?

On a seperate issue can you imagine what the scum would have been like if they secured champs lge football ? I know that they have offloaded players too but they are investing that money back into the squad and if they have champs lge money on top of that then they would splash cash all over the pace :(

If Chamakh and Bendtner are both off, who is going to be our 3rd choice? Park (please God no!)

But instead they got in the Europa League, sacked their manager and sold their top player....

I think Park could do as equally a good job of being 3rd choice as Chamakh and Bendtner did. Equally good.
