As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Usually when a German name has an O followed by an E it means that in Germany the O had an Umlaut (to dots) above it which made it sound as if it was OE.
The absence of an Umlaut in normal English means people had to add an E to their names if they anglicised their name.
An umlaut could be added far easier than an E could.
Are any of our German readers able to verify this?

Kroenke is of German origin.

You're right about dropping the umlaut and adding an E (if his name is indeed German). Classic example Hermann Göring, anglicised as Goering.
However, might not necessarily mean it originally had an umlaut: Joseph Goebbels was never Göbbels (as far as I'm aware).
I do feel however that Kroenke/Krönke is in good company with those two Nazis though.
That's taking it too far....only time will tell if he was a genius with his prudency or was simply trying to make as cash as possible.
In the meantime we are not going to win the league.

The guy is a businessman who owns several sports franchises. Given his dearth of public appearances and track record of only allowing investment until profitability, I find it impossible to reach any conclusion other than him trying to make a quick buck (or tens of millions of them).

and most likely the complicity of one Arsene Wenger.
For £7 million a year, I suppose that most would want to have a go.
