Anyway, on to other things

What have been the comings and goings at Gooner Towers? Is Baba still upsetting anyone and everyone? Has Red Member decided Wenger's a genius once more for managing to sign a striker even slower than Chamakh? Has Augie bolted his load now that Almunia has left?
red's turned mate...it's hilarious :coffeespit:

In what sense? Don't tell me he's now gone full circle and paired up with Baba and rest of us miserable fuckers?? Surely not....

Not many sides will give us the space we had yesterday.

Diaby played well because Gerrard wasn't interested.

Brilliant ! Some people's inability to give praise just astounds me. When I've come on here and praised him for playing well at places like Fulham the response is "Oh it was only mighty Fulham'. Then when he runs the show at Anfield against a manager renowned for playing a pressing game and containing the England captain in their ranks it's because he 'wasn't interested'.

If Steven Gerrard as captain of Liverpool wasn't interested in a game against Arsenal to prevent his team having its worst league start for over 80 years.....come on Sammy. He was made to look average by a FAR SUPERIOR PLAYER !

Abou was also different grade at Stoke despite those twats charging around kicking lumps out of anything that moved

As I said last year, if Diaby scored a hat-trick in the Nou Camp it'd no doubt be down to the fact that Barca had an off day
I dont disagree with what youve written here but liverpool did NOT play a pressing game yesterday so Sammy isnt wrong you give any half decent player that much time and they'll look world class. Im happy to give an injury free Diaby time to prove himself but that can only be done after 38 games not 3

To be fair I thought Diaby was poor against Sunderland, it would be unfair to judge him solely on either that game or yesterday. Fair enough judge him at Christmas if he manages to stay more or less fit until then.

Amazing how people twist the logic to suit their arguments though! Last season he played 3 part games and people were slaughtering him. So let me get it straight - its OK to hammer someone after 3 games, but you can only praise them after 38 ??

It works both ways guys - people completely destroy the guy after one bad pass and one game

I shall refer back to this thread when he inevitably has an off day, when it'll back to the main culprits calling him 'brainless' and a "Scum shirt wearing *word censored*' and all the other dross that spills out

Players should be judged after a run of games not just 3 whether thats good or bad youre right SteveO.

and now Baba and Red are an unholy alliance i prefered it when they hated eachother

Thats the nature of the game SteveO.Fans are rightly angered that his is pocketing £60k a week while seating on the treatment table. And i am not being a hypocrite because i said the same about RVP when he missed half a season for the last 7 season.Last year RVP proved himself by playing every game and scoring 37 goals.I will judge Diaby when he plays a full season not 3 games
And i will admit if i am wrong. But SteveO you have been praising him when he wasnt playing

Thought he was great on the ball yesterday and even tracking back. But there was a couple of 50 50's that he didn't seem to want to go in to, which to those comparing him to PV4 was very unlike the great Patrick Vieira.

But he did have a humdinger of a game lets hope he can keep it going now :barscarf:

But Donaldo - people slaughter him for 60k per week whilst being injured as if the injury is all his own fault and I don't get that part of the argument at all

Would I rather have a bloke earning 60k per week who could be a fantastic player but whom hasn't had the chance owing to injury. Or would I rather have a never-will-be like Chamakh earning that money scoring 1 goal a year, or a 4th choice keeper in Almunia earning that money whilst still fully fit, or Arshaving showing a complete lack of interest for 18 months on 80k per week

If Abou produces the same shite that those 3 have over a year or so when fully fit then I will hold my hands up too. But he has never had the chance he is being given now, whilst those 3 clowns amongst others, have.

Great to see you back Steveo

I think you have misread what my meaning was.

I was at the game yesterday so haven't had the benefit of television view points so I base my opinion on what I saw. Gerrard was garbage he looked over weight and dis interested. The Liverpool midfield was porous and not particularly effective. Sahin was lightweight, Allen was busy but neither of them stamped their authority.

Arteta was imperious, Ox was workmanlike, Santi was buzzing and Diaby was excellent and we know he produces these performances rarely.

My opinion is this, the space he had was alarming, great for us. He had time to do what he wanted, he had team mates eager, hungry and pressing hard, he excelled and played very very well. But the contributions of Liverpool helped and my argument is simple. He won't have space like that at the Etihad later this month, he won't have a such performer in Yaya Toure to dominate and he won't have space like yesterday probably as much. I say he did well but I also say...we have seen it before....now what is want to see is Diaby dominating Man City, ManUtd, Chelsea and other hard pressing combatative midfields.
