Abou Diaby - Injuries Thread

No worries Sammy - of course you're right about Liverpool to a degree. Liverpool were very very average yesterday and that is being kind. Rodgers has walked into a minefield there. I'm sure Sahin will do better than he did yesterday as the season goes on. Perhaps Gerrard isn't fit but he certainly looked one of the few players that were at Euro 2012 in an England shirt so maybe he's still knackered from carrying around that shit midfield. I don't think its not being interested - he's probably fucked off that the Bindippers are still in a mess after 10 years of carrying them

I think its fair to say all of our players will face bigger tests at the Etihad. Mannone for example where people are now talking him up on the back of saving 3 regulation shots from distance, the largely untroubled backline and yes the midfielders too. That's just common sense - City are far superior to Liverpool in every aspect so we will see who rises to the challenge.

However, I think Abou is the man for that challenge. He wriggles his way out of tight spots - did it a few times yesterday - and has that change of direction and pace to do it on the largest stage. I'll back him to star again at the Etihad

I dont know if anyone else noticed this or if I imagined it but my concern for Diaby yesterday was the amount of tackles he jumped out of. At one point I swear he didn't fancy it against Sterling

If anything its just going to get him injured again

I did notice that, every ball that was 50-50, even the ones that were slightly more in his favour he let them go in and then tried to win the ball afterwards. Avoided the initial contact every time. still mental scars there obviously

Personally i think its the sort of thing that someone will never recover from the metal scars of that injury and the ones that came after will be with him forever and no i cant blame him for it its a natural reaction but more likely to get him injured in future

I dunno, Flash. Some players do come back from it, some don't. Probably the majority don't, but it is down to the character of the player I think.

In 2006 I was on the receiving end of a kúnt's tackle over the ball that broke my left ankle in two places and put a 3 inch tear in my calf (the calf muscle thankfully went rather than the achilles). Didn't kick a ball for nearly a year and it was a long very painful road to recovery. First 5 or 6 games back I was jumping around the pitch like a ladyboy with syphilis of the feet but eventually (after having the piss ripped outa me by my team mates) I got back into it.

But then I'm an alpha dog. Woof Woof!!

Yep i suppose some may come back but its bound to play on your mind after being out so long and diaby strikes me as being a bit of a pussy

ffs one good game and there are people on here wetting themselves over Diaby, the guy has been injured or shite for years, then like Rosicky he has a good game and all is forgotten.
There were positives in yesterdays game, but I have been watching this useless twat long enough not to class this one off performance as one of them.

Sorry sid, but only one person is raving about him in an OTT fashion and I'm convinced that SteveO is actually Diaby! The rest have been measeured in their praise. And it's praise Diaby deserved for yesterday. He was MOTM by a mile. But very few on here now believe he is suddenly going to start doing that every game or indeed stay fit for long.

I'm convinced that the majority of people on here actually WANT him to fail. Honestly, I've never heard so much vitriol to one of our players.

As I say, when he's been fit for a whole year - like Chamakh, Denilson, Walcott, Almunia, Arshavin, Bendtner etc - then come back and rejoice in the fact that you were right. I know most on here are incapable of that and will be sitting there waiting to slam him at the Southampton game at the first sign of a misplaced pass.

Give the guy a break FFS. He was very good at Stoke and magnificent yesterday. Certainly better than anything Ramsey produced in 40 odd attempts last year.

Try being even-handed occasionally

Who is saying they want Diaby to fail SteveO?.Lets have a bit of prospective on him.We have been down this road before with him.A couple of decent games then its see you in 6 months time.I think is only fair with what has happened in the past is to say judge him after a whole season.If he ever plays one that is

Webb had already booked the BFG and Arteta for silly fouls and the tackles he pulled out (Diaby) where the kind where two footed lunges mean red cards.

Discipline was key as the performance proved
