Fantastic win. Just brilliant. So many positives. 8)

Watching Arteta do the business effectively and economically is such a pleasant change after the years of watching Song lumber around making problems for himself!! Arteta reads the game so well.

Geroud never stopped running for things, won nearly every header he went for too. Great effort. The fact Podolski was playing a bit deeper didn't help him as when he won the headers there was usually no one around him from our side, but they can work on this. I hope he gets the time he needs to settle in.

Podolski showed that clinical finish we need. As he gets more used to the PL pace etc he will score more and more.

Mert and TV5 were solid too. TV5 was fearless and took a few kicks and just got on with it.

Cazorla looks the full dogs. He looks so comfortable on the ball and has a top pass in him.

But the man of the match for me was Diaby. I honestly never thought I'd write that! Sure we all know he has talent but he has been so inconsistant in games and his injuries have been fucking ridiculous for years. He was imperious yesterday, outclassed Gerard and ran the show. An awesome performance.

After that I hate to have a grumble but we still have problems... Can Diaby stay fit? I doubt it. Can he turn in a performance like that every game if he does? Fuck it - can he do it even 1 out of 3 games? I doubt it.

Jenko looks out of his depth out there.

Ah fuck it it's churlish to be whining after totally outclassing the Mousers on their patch! I'm just gonna enjoy the win. :barscarf:

Would just like to finish with the fact that Suarez is a diving cheating kúnt. He has such a punchable face too! :D

You thought that jenko was out of his depth ?? He had a few misplaced passes I grant you but he made so many tackles and blocked their crosses almost every single time and I thought that he, along with all of our backline, looked solid throughout 8)

Strange how two people watrching the same game can see things differently! I thought Sterling lit him up nearly everytime he went at him. Thought Jenko looked rattled. Not saying he was shit, just not reliable enough at that level yet. Too many panicked clearances, some really dodgy back passes and shows the oppo into the wrong areas too often. But it is all stuff he can learn and improve on.

He was really nervy first twenty minutes, especially on the ball. That said, thought he kept Sterling fairly quiet second half and grew into the game. Still got years of learning to do yet but with our defensive shape and work ethic hopefully he won't be left on his own like he was last year particularly at OT. Last year it was just far too easy without Walcott or Gervinho working back properly for opponents to pick out or full-backs (especially if they were Miquel, Jenks or Djourou) and get wingers one-on-one with them with space to attack them.

I think he did a sterling job yesterday.

I'm here all week

I will hold my hands up and admit that I think Mertesacker carried on from last week with another solid display. He is still always going to pick up bookings with that lack of pace when people turn him quickly, but he was a very calming influence at Stoke and again yesterday.

This was what I was hoping to see last year from a guy with his experience but didn't see it
Perhaps, as was discussed at length last year, it really is all down to the organisation of the defence and the coaching work. Steve Bould really did seem to have a proper system in place for defending the aerial threat at Stoke last week and again this week. Good job done Bouldie......and lets hope that Mertesacker carries on like this

Thought the defence were almost faultless yesterday. Also think it was the best game Gibbs has ever played for us

His movement is excellent, Podolski scored because he took two defenders away from the ball. Needs a goal, but im really positive about him, you can tell if players have something about them by what they do off the ball - he woeks, he moves, puts pressure on the defence - defends from the front. Proper impressed - need a goal, but the service in the air was pretty poor for him yesterday and i feel thats an area he excels in.

Jenko had a nervy start, but he had another solid game - kept their dangerman Sterling quiet for the most part. Needs time, but he looks fine as a back-up right back for me.

I agree.

I like him, he knows when to show for the ball and when to make a run unlike the camel. I just hope he gets shown some patience and support and doesn't fall victim to the talksport breed of football fan that's expecting him to be like RvP straight away.

I thought he had a better game at Stoke to be honest where the quality of the service was far far worse and he worked pretty tirelessly.

The disappointment yesterday was when he did get goalside particularly near the end when he won the tangle with the defender and had an opportunity to go 1-on-1 and get a shot in......but he checked back and the chance was gone. I pray that he doesn't turn out to be a Chamakh

I thought the problem there was that he tried to take his touch toward goal on his left foot and Enrique did him for pace. He needed to take the touch slightly wider on his right foot.

Or maybe I'm thinking of a different one

That's the one. Poor touch and looked slow off the mark - but unfair to draw too many conclusions this early. Was just hoping that was his big chance to show some quality

As I said, Geroud tried his guts out and looks good in the air. Far more effort than Chamakh has produced for over a year now. I hope he is given time to settle as I think he might be half decent. He is still finding his feet in the PL and this may take a little time. Top quality like Henry, Pires and even DB10 didn't hit the ground running - sometimes it takes a while to get used to the pace etc.

Either way, anyone that writes him off after 3 games is a fucking idiot.

Agree. I'll wait till he gets injured and then remind everyone how much he earns a week :D
