This was Belarus remember, not Brazil.

Arsenal's Olivier Giroud booed off by own fans during France international
Olivier Giroud’s disappointing start to the season continued as he was substituted and booed off by his own fans during France’s 3-1 win over Belarus. ..The Arsenal forward’s barren run in front of goal continued at the Stade de France last night, with goals from Etienne Capoue, Christophe Jallet and Franck Ribery sealing the win for Les Bleus.

But it was a less enjoyable night for Arsenal’s £12million summer signing, who was removed from the action after an hour and subjected to jeers from the home fans.

‘I welcomed my position in the starting XI with a lot of enthusiasm and happiness,’ said the 25-year-old.

‘Being in French team starting XI is always a privilege. However, I was a little disappointed to be substituted.

‘When you are a forward you need time and try to not listen to the fans, above all at Stade de France, where the audience is always a little special.’

Giroud has scored just once in 11 appearances for Didier Deschamps’ side, while he has failed to find the back of the net in any of his first three Premier League appearances for the Gunners since joining from Montpellier.

My guess is that the club hope Giroud will be another Koscielny; an unheralded player from the lower French divisions who has the drive and nouse to keep working hard and become a good player over 18 months or so.

I do not think Wenger expected Giroud to take the league by storm this season.

Which is why I think we should have gone in for Dempsey, or at the very least kept Bendtner or even Afobe instead of the bizarre Chamakh.

Dempsey is not good enough for Arsenal, he was a good player at a midtable team. It still amazes me Tottenham, finished 4th, sacked the manager and replaced him with a sacked manager - sold the spine of their team and replaced them with Fulham players - they wont be top 5 this season - im happy to be quoted on that.

I agree Re:Afobe - but his loan is only till Jan, and it makes sense that he plays in the Championship than in the reserves...Bendtner i think is better than Chamakh and should of stayed - but he has not interest in doing so.

Wenger probably is hoping that Chamakh also does the "Koscielny". 2-3 years ago Chamakh was a pretty good player, and I'm sure a lot of the people hating on him right now were the same ones complaining we didn't bring him in when we were desperate for a striker a few seasons ago.

Let's not forget AW never seems to give up on his players, ever. How many opportunities has Arshavin had over the last 18 months despite his significant dip in form?

It's good when it works; it's dangerous when it doesn't.

I agree with most of what you have said on this thread but your reference to avb getting sacked is bizarre  You are aware that monaco sacked wenger many moons ago and the only job he could get then was in japan ? It is easy to say that there would be a mad rush for wenger's signiture now if he was to leave the club (please god  ) but he wasnt top level manager back then and I would suggest that avb's cv to date outshines wenger's at the same stage of his career

This is a bit of a tangent but as for Harry and AVB:

Spurs were fourth last season but they have finished top before, all be it the last time in 1961.
Just wanted to point that out in case any Spurs fans are reading. :barscarf:

I did not understand why they sacked Harry, even in the face of awful form since we beat them 5-2.
Just wanted to point that out in case any Spurs fans are reading. :barscarf:

But a Spurs fan I talked to reckoned that Harry refused to sign a contract extension because he thought he was in the frame for the England job.
When he found out he was not going to get it, he then approached the club about a contract extension, but the directors felt this showed disloyalty so they sacked him.

They have not been very good this season.

The twitching c**t whored himself out for the national team job and without a doubt that would piss any employer off. The twitching c**t spoke that much bullshit during his tax trial (rosie the dog   ) that he could be nothing else but an embarassment to his club - he may well have walked free but everybody knows that if an ordinary small businessman used his excuses at trial then he would be doing porridge as we speak
The twitching c**t was heavily backed by their board and still allowed his team to capitulate on the run in despite both ourselves and the chavs having their worst season in a while. The cheeky b*****d then had the front to look for more transfer funds through the media
And now the twitching c**t has set up his successor to be a failure right from the start - he has already spoke about them challenging for the title despite the fact that they have lost their best two midfielders from last season and their captain has retired. I know that king was a cripple in recent years but his influence around the place will be missed by them this year

Having said all that, I have to say that as a Gooner all of the above makes me very happy :barscarf: :barscarf:

getting on one of our players after 3 games? some of you lot are fucking despicable . Bergkamp went 7 games , could you imagine the torrent of negativity surrounding him if he was playing during this season ? settle down ffs, he needs confidence first and he ain't gonna get it from the jeering from you lot. Not that I'm worried what babs thinks as he never goes to a match , and does as much Arsenal supporting as a spud
