SOUTHAMPTON HOME THREAD
Re: SOUTHAMPTON HOME THREAD
My first 'freebie' of the season. I must admit the club's business model is starting to work wonders for my attendance - two games into the home season and already there's apathy amongst season ticket holders. Still, Stan's already pocketed the money and is lining up some nice property in the area

A dull lifeless 5-2 snoozefest. 2 each for Pod n Giroud, 1 for TV

I agree. Mertesacker deserves to continue.1989 wrote:+1LDB wrote:Mertesacker is a class act who's exceptional reading and positioning compliments Vermaelen's hollywood defending perfectly.
If Mertesacker is dropped then Wenger has truly lost his fucking marbles
One of the main reasons why we haven't conceded yet has to do with the Big Fucking German.

I'd play Kos at RB for now. He can fill in there and has done before.
Safer bet than Jenkinson.
Safer bet than Jenkinson.

I did wonder if Kos could be the holding defensive midfielder, as he is decent positionally and good at reading the game and nicking the ball in a challenge.Arsenal Till I Die wrote:I'd play Kos at RB for now. He can fill in there and has done before.
Safer bet than Jenkinson.
Also he is quite small for a centre back, often outmuscled or beaten in the air, purely down to his height and build.

Szcz fit, diaby is 50-50 has a "minor problem", he can play but wenger "wont take the gamble because of fitness"

Re: SOUTHAMPTON HOME THREAD
Maybe this should have it's own thread (even a poll?) but as it's to do with the Soton match I'll stick it in here.
Redaction have said that many fans have mentioned to them that we should sing "You'll never Walk alone" at around 3.06pm
I'm sure many of you will disagree but I think this would be a really class of us fans to show some respect to those that lost their lives.
Personally I'm not a keen fan of the whole JFT96 because of the events before hand and that LFC fans aren't totally innocent in the build up of the disaster. Plus then there's Heysal...
However forgetting all of that and putting it aside many fans, mostly young fans innocently died because of the actions of others. I think signing YNWA would show a solidarity with all fans up and down the country whilst showing respect.

Quite a few people are saying don't change a winning team so Mert stays in ahead of Kos. Does the same apply with Mannone now Chesney is back?

Id play Shez and kos, nothing against merts but it would be nice to get a settled 1st team. Are we going to keep Sagna on the bench when he's fit?
Re: SOUTHAMPTON HOME THREAD
In my opinion we should if we still haven't conceded a goal by that point!BournemouthRED wrote:Id play Shez and kos, nothing against merts but it would be nice to get a settled 1st team. Are we going to keep Sagna on the bench when he's fit?
Even though I am a fan of all three of the players that have missed the last few games, if you don't reward players for doing well then it will be very difficult to build a squad of any depth. You can probably get away with it with Sagna/Jenkinson as Jenkinson is young and freely admits he is still learning.

But for as far as we are concerned this should be the end. The deceased have been given their pardon, albeit 23 years too late, but LFC fans/campaign group can take it further if they need. As far as footballs fans are concern we've reached the end.

yes. mannone is the back up, if you want him to improve he needs games and experience. its a long season, easing ches and Kos back in will have benefits in January let alone May.Skooner wrote:Quite a few people are saying don't change a winning team so Mert stays in ahead of Kos. with ches on the bench, if manny has a mare they can sub him in.
AW also indicated that Jack is less than two weeks away.
