As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
I don't quite get the whole Islington deal Any time I see the borough on TV it looks quite nice, so how come I always end up in some shit hotel on the Seven Sisters Road with not a descent boozer to be found

As u well know that kit looked mustard on our darker skinned players and shit on the paler ones !
On another note I feel it will be great to celebrate 100 years in Islington by wearing the Borough LOGO on our sleeves or something similar.
Islington is where the bedrock of support has come from for many years and despite rocketing house prices which have forced many out, plus a dwindling stock of council houses increasingly given to those with no link to the Borough whatsoever ,it remains a very large part of our support !
Bonus point if u can name the man on the left !
PS Steve fcuk me it's umbro !
Paul Vaessen, John Devine who I believe is/was married to a former Miss Ireland and John Hawley

Islington starts in the City of London ,Clerkenwell once an Italian neighbourhood still has the Church and the best deli in London called Grazano's ,Upper Street has for years been a great place for Pubs Clubs n Restaurants too many to mention not Church st market home to a almost decent pie n mash gaff Manzies .
Its the Home of the off West End theater, art galleries and antique centers.
It Stretches up to F. Park to the North ,Clissold park to the East and the Cally to the West !
It's bigger Population wise than many cities in the UK !
It is the epicenter of the planet earth and is my home !
The Seven Sisters road North of F. Park is in either Hackney or Haringay.........and whilst we have some affiliation with the former, the latter is home of some other creatures ..................and we know the boundaries !

yep that is Vaessen alright, I was literally praying for the goal when he scored it, and for a non believer like me It made for a couple of ponderous weeks after.... till he fucked us over v West Ham and Valencia.
I was in Turin ,that was a very hairy but very enjoyable trip,we went Transalpino on the ferry and rattler via Paris which got relieved of a lot of Lacoste apparel. We took an overnight Train from Paris which got us into Turin on the day of the game @ abt 6 am in the morning and some hung around and some went for a wander. A few went up to the ground to get tickets and were chased all over the gaff at 1100 am in the morning ,scary !
The Old stadium the communale wasn't far from the center so we mobbed up and went to get the tickets ,even that was dangerous .
By mid afternoon it seemed the whole of Turin was alive with mad Italian chappies who seemed to be bussed in from every part of Italy (locals support Torino) ! Lots of knives flashed and insults hurled but we managed to keep them at bay .....just .
We got in the ground at about 5.30 and the Police wanted us to go downstairs but someone who had been there before told us that the Turin mob pissed on people below and threw missiles so instead we leapt up the stairs got into the smallest section and stood guard on the stairs so nobody could come up .
The travel club mob came in with seriously ruffled feathers and for once where very pleased to see us . After about the 20th attempt of the Italians to get up the stairs there was a big kerfuffle and the Italian Police finally blocked it off.
We played very well without seriously threatening Juve who seemed content to play out the draw and as the clock ticked down you thought "Oh Well" and then it happened .
The stadium had gone from a seething cauldron of noise and hatred to one of silence save a couple of hundred Englishmen.
The Juve fans where stunned as the match ended very shortly afterwards and they were in deep shock ,they hadn't lost at home since the time of Michelangelo ,but as it sunk in they got rather cross, banners were burnt missiles began to reign in and then the seige of Turin began !
The carabinieri stayed around for about 10 mins then decided it was time to leave ,the Juve fans were now outside and baying for blood .......ours ! They tried a few times to come up the stairs but in a confined space and being above them we could more than hold our own .
What we couldnt do was get out though, very we time we tried we were chased back ................this went on for 2 hours ,a few tried sneaking out the side but soon came running back as the place was surrounded .
After about 2 and a half hours we realised that the train to Paris was leaving in about an hour so we needed to get out .
One big charge and the Italians moved a few steps back then came at us .
At this point a Guardian Angel appeared in the form of some plain clothed Italian OB who pulled out their guns and started shooting in the air they scattered the Juve mob and escorted all of us to the coach park where 1 coach waited for the travel club mob who by now just wanted to get out ........The Police though told the drivers they had to put everyone on board as the 80 or so of us would never make the walk back to the station ,this they did and we got a massive OB escort back to the station .........great night and Paris got done again the following day only this time it was the Hermes shop !
PAUL remains an Arsenal legend for this Goal alone !

nice one herd, i was too young and all i remember is listening to the game on the radio and screaming when vassen scored with my mother telling me go to sleep you have school in the morning:mrgreen:
i remember reading the stories on the old herd site and some were quiet scarey tbh for the people who went to turin that night.
Its one of those nights that scared the shit out of you at the time ,and felt safe only when we were on the train back to Paris ! I've not embroidered it with more detail as this isn't a forum for such things but lets just say it was very lively for over 12 hours which is a long time to run on espresso and adrenalin ! At one point in the afternoon we thought we would be killed ,and coming out of the stadium made WHL look like a ride at the fairground !
