Re: WHO STARTS IN NETS
Szczesny is injured so want Don Vito to start.
Re: WHO STARTS IN NETS
First it was nice to have a 'keeper who was so confident. Now, he's too confident.
As for the question, and to anyone who thinks Vito Mannone should be goalkeeper for Arsenal Football Club, look at the .GIF below...

Wojciech's getting slaughtered for dropping a catch at the weekend. I'd hate to think of the response he'd get if he fucked up like this
FYI - I'm not saying that Szczesny is currently a world class 'keeper but he's twenty-effing-two for crying out loud. The bloke is going to drop a catch or two in his career. Get over it. When he falls over, completely unchallenged, when he can easily catch the bouncing ball, feel free to freak out. Until then, there are far bigger issues in our team than the 'keeper.

Re: WHO STARTS IN NETS
Once again Wenger playing Russian roulette with our keepers. Our back up keepers are Mannone and Flappy
.We needed to sign an experienced keeper this summer to be back up to Szczesny and who could help Szczesny develop. But as per usual Wenger has never thought keeper was the most important position on the pitch thats why for 3 years Almunia and Flappy were our two first choice keepers
I cant believe anyone really thinks Manonne is good enough

Re: WHO STARTS IN NETS
I think the current sense of negativity around Chesney is a bit down to his very obvious big ego and the fact he "presents" himself like he is the finished article. It's also probably indicative of a broader dislike of most modern footballers with their "me me me" mercenary atitude and wannabe gangsta posturings (not that Chesney is a wannabe gangsta) and their huge egos before they have actually achieved anyfuckingthing in the game. I reckon Chesney got a bit big headed when he looked at the shit ahead of him (Almunia/Flappy/Vito) and thought "I'm fucking waaaaay better than this lot" and started hearing others say that too.
Chesney is a good keeper, no more no less, at the moment. BUT he really has the potential to be a great keeper. I agree he needs a more experienced keeper there to help him develop, cover him and also push him for his place.
Mannone has done ok in the games he's played so far - but, let's be honest, they were not exactly top of the league, high pressure games, and as TS's gif above ably demonstrates, he is a bit shit.
Also the fact that Red Wumber rates him as "brilliant" and the technically far superior Chesney as "shit" should set all the alarm bells ringing.

Re: WHO STARTS IN NETS
The problem with Szeceney is not the mistakes (every keeper makes them) it's the way he's put out there by the club or the way he puts himself out there to speak to the media with some strong statements, this gives an aura of arrogance IMO, compare that to another young keeper who is having a rough time (De Gea) who just seems to keep his head down and try to improve himself.
The club needs to do better with the players profiles as in don't put them out there to be stars before they've made it and the players need to have a bit of humilty.
Mistakes are part of the game, Cech, Reina, De Gea, Green, all make them and there's more I'm sure.

Re: WHO STARTS IN NETS
I agree that mistakes are all part of a keepers existance in the game and the difference between him and say Almunia is he has some very good games to go with the mistakes something 'average' Al didnt have. I too wish he would keep his mouth shut and maybe the club shouldnt push him forward to make silly statements to the media but it suits them for him to push the propaganda when things on the pitch arent going wellGunnersaurus wrote:The problem with Szeceney is not the mistakes (every keeper makes them) it's the way he's put out there by the club or the way he puts himself out there to speak to the media with some strong statements, this gives an aura of arrogance IMO, compare that to another young keeper who is having a rough time (De Gea) who just seems to keep his head down and try to improve himself.

I was criticising the arrogant Chesney months ago before there was any talk of him possibly losing his number 1 position.DB10GOONER wrote:Also the fact that Red Wumber rates him as "brilliant" and the technically far superior Chesney as "shit" should set all the alarm bells ringing.![]()
similarly I predicted we would finish in the top 4 this time last season when everyone assumed I was some kind of nutter for suggesting it.

I don't see any problem with that either. Obviously he can't now though as he has joined Watford so it is left to Mannone to come to the rescueflash gunner wrote:Selective memory reddy..... How about the 49 goals he let in last season in the league?
Chesney played very well in our big match of the season against Udinese but after that it was pretty much downhill all the way. Just my opinion though, I am not trying to wind anyone up, just stating facts. If others think Chesney is better then fair enough.

Indeed, the poll is based on that, I'm just asking a Q to the guys who voted Szaugie wrote:The whole thread was based on the "Assumption that both keepers are fitskizz_b wrote:Would anyone's opinion change (Those who voted Szcz) if you took into account the fact chesney is injured?
