Reminds me too much of Arseshavin. Running up blind alleys, not knowing what hes doing. He was totally out of his depth today. Embarrassing. And that stubborn, egomaniac Wenker just HAD to prove a point by giving him 90 mins.

Only decent thing he did today was foul Rambo.

3 tough away games this season and weve had positive perofrmances and results from each....to be honest we could and should be 6 wins from 6 ..were currently playing the best football in the league by a mile and although i cant see us winning it we will be there or there abouts come the end of april beginning of may....

Calm down everyone, just a handful of games into the season and put aside talk of WUMMING etc and look at what we have.Red Member wrote:hutchy08 wrote:3 tough away games this season and weve had positive perofrmances and results from each....to be honest we could and should be 6 wins from 6 ..were currently playing the best football in the league by a mile and although i cant see us winning it we will be there or there abouts come the end of april beginning of may....

We are playing very good football and we are a lot more organised and good at pressing than last season.
But we have a way to go defensively as today's goal against us showed, and offensively as Gervinho's repeated misses showed.
Totally agree that we are missing a striker from the squad, and heaven forbid an injury to Cazorla!
We do have a good competitive team, but I think the squad lacks enough to win the title.

Re: City / Citeh Drinking and match thread
i agree, we are playing the best football at the moment, united chelsea and city have been poor.
sunderland aside, we have been consistently good at the back and in midfield even with rotation. yes we are missing an out and out striker up front, but so have barcelona on occasion and we didn't seem to miss one against liverpool and southampton.
i think this year could be like last year - everyone dropping points against each other, so i think we have a chance as much as anyone but we have to push on next week, get a win, push the chavs back to 3rd and go on a run against the weaker teams.
i'm not convinced by city's defence and less convinced by chelsea or united's midfield, and an injury or loss of form by rvp and united are done for, rooney is shit and now talking about moving to centre mid cos the fat fucker can't be bothered running anymore and he's way overweight.
we've also got bac, jack and rosicky (who played well last spring) to come back.
i think we'll be 2nd.

Totally agree Quartz. There have been a number of seasons where at this stage we've been playing the best football in the league. We breeze through the CL group stages, we batter some poor bastards by 6 or 7 (Soton, Blackpool etc) and also produce some decent stuff against the top sides.QuartzGooner wrote:Calm down everyone, just a handful of games into the season and put aside talk of WUMMING etc and look at what we have.Red Member wrote:hutchy08 wrote:3 tough away games this season and weve had positive perofrmances and results from each....to be honest we could and should be 6 wins from 6 ..were currently playing the best football in the league by a mile and although i cant see us winning it we will be there or there abouts come the end of april beginning of may....

We do have a good competitive team, but I think the squad lacks enough to win the title.
But whilst those with the ambition who strengthened their squads in the Summer and do so again in January, get stronger in the new year, we are left wondering why Chamakh is our replacement striker and why our keepers are costing us important points and cup competitions.
A very encouraging start and I have no doubts we'll finish top 4, but its still the same 3 players or so away from being a title challenger. Look what happened when Arteta got injured last year - we barely won another game (in fact I think WBA on the last day was the only one). So did we strengthen that weak spot? Nope, we sold Song and now cross our fingers that Arteta can play 50 games (sorry but Coq, Frimpong and Eastmond are not the required standard). We let Almunia leave and take his £3m per season wages. Did we strengthen? Nope we get Mannone back from another loan to a second tier club and promote him.
Its the same old, same old. Some really encouraging signs, good football to watch, but will it be enough to end the drought. Somehow I doubt it

Cazorla is now playing Arteta's former role, Arteta is now playing a more holding role and ox is not playing as wide Steve, its a different midfield this year. Jack is back in full training and coq has deputised well in two games.SteveO 35 wrote:[ Look what happened when Arteta got injured last year - we barely won another game (in fact I think WBA on the last day was the only one). in terms of passing forward, cazorla way out passes Song, and we've still got the passing ability of Arteta and an ideal replacement in Rosicky who worked his socks off tracking back in the second half of last year.
i think our midfield is more balanced than last year imho. in the first six games, tippy tappy or tikki takki is dead, replaced by two touch football at speed and tracking back as a unit when we don't have the ball - you saw it again today, two disciplined lines of four compressing the centre and preventing city from passing through us.
so at the most we are two players away from favourites, but we could be a contender.

Re: City / Citeh Drinking and match thread
Santi was amazing again. Good game from all the back 4. Kos is amazing and I really hope he plays as much as possible. Our best defender imo. Goalkeeping
And ive read peoples responses on here saying Ramsey had a good game....he played decent in the first half, not amazing. The second half he was fucking garbage just like he always is. Poor passes, poor runs. The fact that some of you think he was good is a bad sign because now Wenger will try to fit him into the side more often which he DOES NOT BELONG IN. He is not better than Arteta, Cazorla, Diaby, Rosicky, or Wilshire. So now he is forced to play wide which is he not a wide player and comes inside too much. He has no spot in this team and should have been sold.
And Gervinho is the most frustrating player to watch. ever.

Cazorla is absolutely immense, no two ways about it. Watching MOTD2 you can see that he is part of every attack, he is fantastic at injecting pace into the play and shifting the ball quickly.
Away fans sounded brilliant, made a right fucking racket when we scored and outsang City all game.

Re: City / Citeh Drinking and match thread
It doesn't really matter who's playing the "best football" at the moment. In fact you might go for Everton but does anyone think they will make the top 4? Well I don't but so far they've been amazing and it's the same with Arsenal. It was a good start but nothing more and the only important thing is the table after the last matchday.
Re: City / Citeh Drinking and match thread
I said this when the window closed and I'll repeat it now: Wenger's inability and refusal to spend money to bring in a proper striker is going to cost Arsenal. A bid for Falcao, or Berbatov in RVP negotiations, or Jovetic who we could have easily got, Lewandowski etc...would have seen Arsenal dangerous.
As things stand there isn't a reliable striker there, that's shocking.
Podolski is good but not out and out striker.
Giroud is shite. FACT.
I look at the league and I know it's early, but it's deeply concerning to see the likes of Ricky Lambert, Damian Duff FFS, Ba, Anichebe etc out scoring Arsenal's number 9. Giroud won't go beyond 8 league goals this year IMO. Hope I'm wrong?
As for the keepers they're all mediocre, Chesney in class only in his own mind. Overrated sap. Mannone the less said the better.
I don't give a flying shit about 2nd place. Not when it's been nearly EIGHT years since Arsenal won anything.
Arsenal will win fuck all again this season because our imbecile manager screwed the team in the summer window, as he cares more for money, and nurturing his precious Frenchis pets from Ligue 1.

A bit more ambition to strengthen DCM (shoulda signed Dembele, criminal Spuds got him), a keeper of any half decent standard (how can the Spuds second choice keeper be France no1 and better than our first choice?
) and a serious striker, Arsenal would have been I with a genuine chance.
Fucked by Le Muppet again.

Agree that Eastmond is not good enough, cannot understand why he was not sold this summer?clockender1 wrote:coq has deputised well in two games.SteveO 35 wrote: we sold Song and now cross our fingers that Arteta can play 50 games (sorry but Coq, Frimpong and Eastmond are not the required standard).
Frimpong is anyone's guess?
Two successive ligament injuries plus a competitive yet suspect temperament could result in any extreme.
At best a box-to-box Arsenal regular in the mould of Michael Thomas; at worst an underachieving hothead and Twitter regular in the mould of Leon Knight.
But I rate Coquelin.
Sensible cool headed lad who tackles neatly and passes sensibly, good work rate and positional discipline.
Think he is already worth his squad place and by the end of the season I see him as one of four main regulars worthy of competing for the three central midfield places, along with Cazorla, Arteta and Wilshere; all be it that he would play deep midfield whereas the other three are more flexible.
He is also very useful to have on the bench as a right back option.
Re: City / Citeh Drinking and match thread
Baba says a lot of things in order to validate his Wenger hatred .
He continues to labour under the surely now buried myth that Wenger has had a net surplus of cash to spend since 2006 and has for his own suspicious and malicious reasons refused to spend it .
We played the champions away tonight and almost beat them ,the side is playing well ,and they look like a unified team for the first time in a number of years.
I can't see for the life of me why people need to constantly stick the boot in,they really should find better ways to channel their energies !
