THE WENGER THREAD
Re: Arsene Wenger Points of View.
Even if your anti wenger, in an age where despise greedy traitors, the coles, nasris, ades with no loyalty to the club even the henrys and fabregas who have been loyal....the loyalty wenger has given arsenal is remarkable and deserves respect...

Re: Arsene Wenger Points of View.
I can be VERY loyal for a million quid a year rising to three million....
that said, i'm happy with Arsene this year - he's made two good buys in Podolski and Cazorla, offloaded bentdner, vela and Song, benched walcott and is seeming to let Bouldy do his thing.
i still think we could add another keeper and a back up striker (Ba or Llorente would be nice)

I'd be loyal for £6m+ and complete immunity from any criticism from my bosses.hutchy08 wrote:Even if your anti wenger, in an age where despise greedy traitors, the coles, nasris, ades with no loyalty to the club even the henrys and fabregas who have been loyal....the loyalty wenger has given arsenal is remarkable and deserves respect...

I hardly think Ba or Llorente in particular would be playing second fiddle to Giroud.Peeman wrote:clockender1 wrote:I can be VERY loyal for a million quid a year rising to three million....

he has to start playing further forward or in the centre at some stage. i don't think his role at the moment is anything other than transitionary (is that a word ?) - i don't think his fitness is quite there yet. forehead will go back wide imho.
unless of course we never go back to a lone striker upfront in the tight games away from home etc. but that's unlikely isn't it ? and wenger does like his strikers to play out wide first to get them used to beating their man from deep like TH14, although Ox who has always been able to beat his man outside is now doing the opposite LOL

Re: Arsene Wenger Points of View.
Ah fair enough. I completely don't agree about Pod's fitness though, the amount of work he got through at Stoke and Anfield was scary, always there to help Gibbs out and was still closing down and involved in breaking (e.g. the goal) every game. For my money he's not a central striker, certainly not on his own anyway, I think he's far better picking up the ball a bit deeper where he can use his pace and power to drive forward and make late runs to offer in attacks (much like Rooney does).clockender1 wrote:i was thinking of Pod.northbank123 wrote:I hardly think Ba or Llorente in particular would be playing second fiddle to Giroud.Peeman wrote:clockender1 wrote:I can be VERY loyal for a million quid a year rising to three million....

Re: Arsene Wenger Points of View.
In a sort of 'how long can you go without chewing it' fruit pastilles type challenge, someone should set Arsene the challenge of conducting an interview without using the word "Overall" in the first sentence.
Bet he can't manage it

Re: Arsene Wenger Points of View.
Sorry for the stats quote but 42% of Wenger's interviews consist of 'errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr'

Re: Arsene Wenger Points of View.
Former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song said the club's failure to win trophies was behind his decision to join Barcelona.
The Cameroon international moved to the Nou Camp from the Gunners last month in a £15million deal after seven years with the north London club.
He followed a well-trodden path with Marc Overmars, Emmanuel Petit, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Thierry Henry, Alexander Hleb and Cesc Fabregas all having made the switch to Barca during Arsene Wenger's tenure.
And it was his desire for success that led to his departure from the Emirates this summer.
"I'm hungry. I've never won anything and I have come here to play many games and win it all", the 25-year-old said.
He admitted Wenger had been a source of great help to him when he arrived at Arsenal as a teenager but there was no way he could spurn such an opportunity.
"It was in July. Barca spoke with Arsenal and Arsene Wenger came to tell me.
"It was hard to convince him and also say goodbye because he really helped me and my family when I arrived at Arsenal at 17 years old.
Interesting. This essentially confirms that all those stories about Song being a shit-stirrer who wasn't pulling his weight were made-up lies. If Wenger wanted rid of Song, then why was it 'hard to convince him'?
It also makes a mockery of those who claimed 'Arsene is getting tough and slinging out the non-performers'. Bollocks he is, they're buggering off of their own free will. Even shite like Song think they're too good for Wenger FC!
Saddest part of it all?
Song will win more trophies than our whole current squad, or any future Wenger-managed squad ever will.
Like Nasri, Clichy and soon RVP, his decision will be massively vindicated...

Hmm... perhaps it's just me, but I'm not sure what Song said "confirms" anything.Babatunde wrote: Interesting. Personally, I think the speed and simplicity of the deal for a guy with 3 years on his contract suggests that perhaps it was a deal that all parties were relatively happy with.
In all honestly though, I'm just pleased he's gone.

I'm not dismissing it as a theory, but I just can't be as confident as you that Alex Song's words are the whole truth. Hell, even if they're his version of the truth, it hardly proves anything; people tend to think they're in the right and often conveniently forget to mention the ambiguous/controversial bits. It's human nature.

Song's team may win more trophies but I have serious doubts as to if any trophy victory will be down to him.
