City / Citeh Drinking and match thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Jeez I thought Red was harmless to be honest.

There is a much more professional Wummer called the Dementor of the Gooner forums that needs addressing imo.

Sucks the life out of the place no matter what the topic.

So Red is wumming where as me/baba/Augie (just for an example) are not wumming ?
Others whose only post on here moa on and on and on about Wenger accusing him of everything from the poor food and beverage options at the bowl to global warming isnt wumming

I personally thought the denilson thing was funny as a lot of his posts were obviously tongue in cheek !

Similarly I could be accused of wumming simply for saying that Bendtner is a good centre forward ,which I do honestly believe !

Whilst recognising the need for some moderation I think you have been harsh !

Can't agree, Herd. The Denilson comment wasn't what he was banned for. It was repeated WUMing. He spent most of last season winding up the anti-Wenger brigade, was warned on several occasions. Then this season (and all summer) he was winding up the pro-Wenger brigade and was warned on several occasions. Other members on here have been warned too and they have taken it on board and moderated their behaviour to lesser and greater degrees. As I say we use banning as a last last last resort (unless you are a racist crunt) and Wumber chose to keep WUMing.

As I also said as mods we had to read all his posts. We all agreed that he was WUMing. Search his posts yourself and tell me that at least 75% of them are not trolling/WUMing. If a member is being blocked/ignored by so many other members than he is having an excessively negative impact on the forum and we cannot allow one member to ruin it for the majority.

It might seem harsh but he was given enough oportunities to avoid getting banned. How long before he is banned from this other forum? I bet they do it quicker than we did.

Absolutely. 8)

I too am a real believer in the right to free speech and I hate censorship tbh. But Wumber had broken the rules here repeatedly. Not my rules, the owner's rules. And we never censored him or banned him for his beliefs. All opinions are welcome and tolerated. He was banned for the nature of his posting, ie; constantly trying to get a negative reaction and winding other users up unnecessarily. We tried to get him to cop-on. He wouldn't. You just can't help some people.

Can't seriously think that he was serious in his views??? If people hold radical views one way or the other that's one thing, but pretending to hold ridiculous views and then trying to antagonise people at every opportunity isn't what a forum is about. At the end of the day it could be quite amusing at times watching him spout nonsense to try and reel somebody in but it also ruined a lot of good threads by dragging people off-topic.

No, of course not. I was just emphasising that we NEVER ban anyone for holding unpopular or unusual beliefs. It was his conduct that got him banned.

I know, I was supporting you in doing that as it's obvious he didn't actually hold those beliefs, and even changed his policy on Arsenal from wildly optimistic to augie-esque in an attempt to attract more bites.

Tbh I never personally mind WUMs too much as long as they aren't personally abusive as they can on occasion be amusing when they cast the line out or make a fool of themselves and I find them pretty easy to ignore, but unfortunately they do tend to ruin perfectly good football threads by dragging others off topic.

Sorry mate - misread you. Thought you were asking if I believed he was serious in his views...

i admit he amused me, because people used to take him quite seriously.

As long as the mods are consistent, then there can't be too many complaints.
