Partly that. My dad worked in Laahndahn in the late 60’s and a workmate brought him to the Arsenal a few times so he had a soft spot for them after that. Then he and my mom emigrated to Australia and the Arsenal started bringing through the young Oirish lads so he made like every overly patriotic Oirish man abroad and supported anything even vaguely Oirish.

He made them my team too. And I loved the cannon as a kid in the 70’s and then Grumpy Chippy became one of the best players in the world and my hero so it just grew from there. I loved everything about the club; the sense of tradition and class, the blazers on FA cup day, the crest, Highbury, the red jersey with white sleeves, the way we were called "The Arsenal", the whole package.

As for ginger midgets, I had no idea OneBard was a Mick?!
