Re: Shammers v Arsenal match thread
I will be getting the tube from London bridge to West Ham and then catch another tube from there toUpton Park.
As i would need to get back asap after the match and have heard Upton Park station gets really busy after the match would it be best for me to wait and get the tube or walk to Canning town and get on the tube there to get back to London Bridge?

Foy apparently been demoted to League 2 this week for having the temerity not to ensure United took all 3 points at home.

Nice to hear that you're growing old gracefully Herd. I presume that also applies to the old grey matter as well ?Herd wrote:You would blend in very well over there with that plus having 8 earrings in and fake adidas samba's on your plates !
Always hated Burberry scarves ,haven't Bought anything Stone Island since about 2005 when I bought a very nice thick woolen cardigan which was the nuts gave all my Jackets to my son having carefully !
At 54 one has to maintain a more dignified look whilst still being stylish ,Hugo Boss raincoat and a cashmere crew neck ,armani jeans and a pair of good old churches loafers for this sort of game.
Personally I would drink in the Wakefield arms for this one but you have to be careful as they dont like interlopers and they do know their own .
If we do ever get to meet up in the future, I'd rather know in advance if I'm looking for a man with a Frank Worthington style balding rock star look, or a Bay City Rollers-cum-Uncle Bulgaria style Gerry Francis blowdry !

None of these ,never had a tache or a mullet and was always well dressed !
Hair still mine small tinges of grey which go blond if I go in the sun for more than a day ,right hook still functions but the derby has gone front ton haywire since moving back to Singapura !
You want a smudge ?

Guilty as charged on that one I'm afraid. Back in 1987 it was a case of "Tonight Matthew, I'm going to be Charlie Nicholas"Herd wrote:None of these ,never had a tache or a mullet and was always well dressed !

Watched West Ham on Monday, and Gary Neville pointed out that there are few better teams at keeping the ball alive in the opposition penalty area than West Ham. Watching the game you realise he is correct, it's not about Barcelona passing, but it is about players pushing on the defence, about players popping up on loose balls and not being afraid to shoot. West Ham are no great shakes but I feel they will cause us massive problems. Certainly based on last night and Saturday our central defence will struggle both physically and with concentration.

I remember West Ham at home was one of the games my old man was wary of taking me to when I was a nipper, Herd. Thankfully they spent much of the time yo-yo'ing the divisions so wasn't always a problem !
I remember when I first went my old man would take me to the safety of the West Lower, but by 2.55 pm, there were countless loveable East End rogues that had made their way into the stand. Seemed to be the old West Ham way of getting in to every stand as well as the away end.
You could spot them a mile off though - typically unkept, scruffy looking buggers with Alan Devonshire style hair or Geoff Pike beards !

Jesus Herd , I remember that day well. Terry Neill made a statement about young British soldiers going to the Falklands to protect freedom and these thugs still on the streets back home.Herd wrote:DB John Dickinson was a Pal of mine ,I've never forgotten the 1st of May 1982 ,I was with him less than 10 mins before he took the fateful steps to the Arsenal train station !

Yeah youre right BradyW.... Herd i was 10 years old at the time so must admit didnt know about it then, only learned of it as i got older. Did it make headline news at the time? I heard the fighting on the Northbank had been bad that day and the match was held up for 15 mins or so too. R.I.P. JohnBradywasking wrote:Jesus Herd , I remember that day well. Re: Shammers v Arsenal match thread
I remember there were conflicting reports in the English media at the time. Some saying he had been ambushed by an ICF mob and beaten and stabbed. Others saying he was part of a Gooner mob that went into the station after the ICF and when our lot ran he stood his ground and was over run. I recall some reports saying he was armed too, with a pool cue or broom handle? Typical press... print every rumour they hear, hope something sticks. But either way he was outnumbered, mobbed and then murdered by cowards.
It was a catalystic moment for me hearing that an Arsenal fan had been murdered by Wham filth. I've hated them ever since.

Re: Shammers v Arsenal match thread
If we win this game I think we have a great chance of pushing on and challenging for the title
