If we did actually move for Falcao (100000% not going to happen) with a serious bid then the likes of City, United, Chelsea, Madrid and Barca would be sniffing around him too as a player of his quality is very rarely available, and then you have to ask hand on heart why would he choose AFC?

What journo is in his right would print such shite ?
Surely everybody would realise straight away that the credibility of the story is shot to shite when you include such a ridiculous transfer rumour
I'll bet our transfer thread specialist is wanking himself silly over the thought of including this in his posts

Even i wouldnt post this, but if we do sign him i will indeed knock one out on the strength of it

Overall I believe that he has shown great technical qualities in his singing. He is very intelligent, efficient and a winneraugie wrote:SteveO 35 wrote:Why do we want to sign the bloke who sung Rock me Amadeus anyway?
It was a shit song but wenger seen enough in him to feel that he has great potential and spirit in him. His career hasnt fulfilled his early potential yet but when wenger teaches him to sing with the handbrake off then he will be a superstar

This post from 2 October is a detailed analysis of the accounts, not unlike the AST analysis but from an independent blogger.
swissramble.blogspot.co.uk/
His thoughts -
Whilst we get increased TV money soon, other clubs benefit from that too.
Commercial revenue should increase after 2014, with some new deals signed then.
Property income is all but completed, with £20M to come.
All of the above incomes are nice to have, but with stadium debt to pay off, we will remain a selling club for our primary source of income.
Our profit is basically down to property and player sales.

Re: BOARD/FINANCE Thread: USMANOV/KROENKE/DEIN/HILL-WOOD etc
exactly quartz. our prudent model is a myth and total bs. it entirly depends on player sales and property. thats not self sustaining, its seriously fooked. something is very wrong that we have to rely on finite property sales that will dry up soon, and player sales that are at best erratic(for example we may have no saleable assets at a point in time).
something is in fact very wrong with our model. off the top of my head the wage increase is a huge worry, given it has occurred with no on pitch improvement.
all clubs could be self sustaining if they sold there best players year on year.

In an interview yesterday, Ivan Gazidis re-iterates the benefits of our spending model. [Self sustainability for now consisting of selling off players to raise a profit].
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news ... -to-follow
Chief executive Ivan Gazidis believes Arsenal are the perfect model to follow as Premier League clubs prepare for financial regulation.
UEFA have already introduced Financial Fair Play guidelines for clubs to live within their means and from next season they want clubs to balance their books in order to bring their annual deficits down by 2018.
With the Gunners having recently posted a healthy pre-tax profit, Gazidis believes they provide the perfect model which could be adopted by more clubs as they look to become self-sustaining.
He said: "Arsenal were operating this way a long time before football looked at it and decided it would be a good path for football to move into.
"I think people believe money can be spent without consequence and if we learnt anything from the financial crisis the world has had over the last few years it has to be unsustainable spending and unsustainable environments don't last forever.
"I think football is in a fantastic position to address this because we are in a position where I am very optimistic for the future of football. The revenues the game generates, particularly the Premier League's position, is fantastic.
"This is a very successful UK industry and it deserves a lot of credit for that. This is a great time for us, when things are going well, to address issues of unsustainability while we can because as we've learned addressing them from a position of weakness is never a satisfactory way to do it.
"The Premier League owners are coming together: I think there is a developing consensus around the fact we need some form of tighter financial regulations to make sure as we look forward that the interest of the Premier League, its clubs and the fans are well protected.
"(And) we are running our league on a sound financial business model and taking advantage of what this league has to become the world's leading sports league."
"I don't think Arsene is conservative, I think he is extraordinarily brave. I think he does things others don't do and sees things others don't see."
According to Gazidis, the Gunners have always tried to strike the balance between the long and short-term and have managed to resist just pushing for the latter without taking heed of possible consequences.
He also defended manager Arsene Wenger, who many have accused of letting the club fall far behind the likes of the Manchester teams due to his perceived aversion to spending money.
Gazidis said: "I don't think Arsene is conservative, I think he is extraordinarily brave. I think he does things others don't do and sees things others don't see.
"Arsene is not fixed on the price of a player in assessing a player's value, he will look with equal weight at a young player who is coming through the Arsenal academy and a player that might be available with a very hefty price tag from overseas.
"He is not afraid to spend money when he believes in a player and sees a player he thinks can kick us forward but he is not obsessed with the security that a big transfer fee might give him."
While he understands the criticism that has come the club's way because of the lack of silverware, Gazidis is convinced the wait for a trophy will soon be over.
He said: "I think the time when we have to continue to ask them (Arsenal supporters) for patience is coming to an end and I think we will be able to deliver the kind of success they want on a consistent basis going forward as one of the leading clubs in Europe."

Silent Stans at it again

Particularly this bit
Stan Kroenke is ‘majorly disappointed’ by Arsenal’s recent performances and ‘isn’t keen’ on investing his money in the club until the Gunners become more successful on the pitch, a source close to the American billionaire has claimed.

Stan Kroenke is ‘majorly disappointed’ by Arsenal’s recent performances and ‘isn’t keen’ on investing his money in the club until the Gunners become more successful on the pitch, a source close to the American billionaire has claimed.
Kroenke, who is Arsenal’s controlling shareholder, has been in London this week as his NFL side the St Louis Rams play the New England Patriots at Wembley Stadium today.
The 65-year-old attended an Arsenal game for the fourth time since his takeover 17 months ago during yesterday’s 1-0 win over QPR. He was accompanied by his son, Josh, while various high-profile friends of Kroenke’s were also invited into chief commercial officer Tom Fox’s executive box.
“We (Kroenke Sports Enterprises) have a record of reinvestment in our other clubs, and it’s there for everyone to see”, Kroenke insisted at last week’s Arsenal AGM.
Kroenke himself, nicknamed ‘Silent Stan’ for his reluctance to talk with the media, has made clear of his disappointment in the Gunners’ recent form and told a friend he ’could not understand’ how they lost two games in a row to Norwich and Schalke last week.
Recent accounts at Emirates Stadium showed that Arsene Wenger’s side have around £70m swilling around in their transfer pot, while Kroenke also approved the sale of star striker Robin van Persie to Premier League rivals Manchester United in the summer.
Valued at around $5.3billion, Kroenke’s sports empire includes the Rams, the NBA’s Denver Nuggets, the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche and of course more recently Arsenal.

Its obvious with this guy in control Arsenal are not going to be successful. Well done Board for the lockdown that gave us Kronke. What a waste of 5 years.

Re: BOARD/FINANCE Thread: USMANOV/KROENKE/DEIN/HILL-WOOD etc
Footballing wise we've been bleeding from the throat for years. We've watched our team go from Invincible to invisible, with no good end in sight and the one person at the head of this venture is a born again bank manager who happens to be our own chairman. A man who insults our fans, who's hypocritical side was shown when he took a very big U-turn from not wanting Kroenke's ''sort'' to welcoming him into the club and giving him a key to the gin cabinet.
If Kroenke sees Arsenal as a failed investment and he refuses to put anymore money into the venture then he could be looking to sell. Kroenke is a business man after all, so if he sees Arsenal as a failure then why would he want to waste his time and money sticking with it. I'm at least hopeful anyway.
Usmanov is no saint, he too is a business man. Although, Usmanov has claimed support and ''love'' for Arsenal and have publicly spoken against the current running of the club. It can't be said for sure what Usmanov would do if given the power at Arsenal but I think we can all agree that the removal of Peter Hill-Wood and Ivan Gazidis would be a welcome one to us all.

Re: BOARD/FINANCE Thread: USMANOV/KROENKE/DEIN/HILL-WOOD etc
Come on gents, all this 'failed investment so I won't throw my money in' is bollocks. He's a businessman, yes, which means he wants the best return on his money. Look at his other sports teams: clearly he feels this is best achieved by investing to the point of commercial competitiveness and no further, and with football CL is the huge cash cow so whilst we're delivering 4th there's no point him putting his money in.
If you told him we could spend £60m and win the league he wouldn't take it because financially the difference between 1st and 4th isn't anywhere near that much. It's more important for him that we get to the CL QF and finish top 4 because that's where the regular income is. He's in a fucking great position because he knows R&W will take the shares off him in an instant at an engorged price and also that he can pillage dividends in the mean time. Anybody who thinks Kroenke is in it for the glory or for the genuine interests of the club is deluded. If he could increase his shareholding again he would happily pass any special resolution he could to clean this club out even further for his own financial gain.
I agree that nobody knows what R&W would really be like but fuck me at least they'd show some ambition. People have mixed views on a potential David Dein return but fucking hell I don't believe he would sell us down the river like Fiszman, PHW and co have and then lie to the fans on a daily basis. There is not one football man on that board and not one person who cares about the fortunes of the club and the supporters.
