As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I find it quite sad that the Irish hate the English so much I got married in 94 in St Lucia and as England hadn't qualified for the finals and Ireland had I supported them wholeheartedly, I would have supported Scotland and Wales back in my youth against any foreign side as I must have been naive and thought they would want us to win too
Shame really but that is the way it is I guess, I don't mind the friendly rivalry when we are playing against each other but from what I've heard and read its far from friendly........
To be fair it used to be like that but isnt like that as much anymore. What you have got to remember is that there is a lot of historical issue's at play in that rivalry and it is all very well saying that crap shouldnt be brought into sport but we had generations of people reared on the notion that the english were the devil and "soccer" was the devils spawn and it is ironic that, for all the bad changes that it has brought, the sky tv era has been really good at breaking down much of those barriers.
From a personal point of view nationality isnt the issue but I would compare the issue with the similar situation that the decent people of Ireland have with dublin - I know that there are more scumbags in dublin ( ) but the media over-reaction to every small bit of success by either team makes it impossible to read a paper or turn on the tv afterwards. In a lot of ways that sentiment is echoed by Gooners when they refer to the pro manure coverage in england so it isnt exactly an alien concept
Match going to be called off due to a waterlogged pitch even though the stadium has a roof - Poland dithered for hours over closing it, and now the rain is too hard to close the roof

Ridiculous.
All the Polish roofers are over here ffs. Nobody left to do it.

To be fair, all they needed is someone with a brain. They loved closing that roof during the Euro's in the summer, yet they choose to leave it open when a storm is due!

Not that I give two shits about international football, but this was clearly a tactic from the Poles to water down the pitch but it's backfired terribly. They should be forced to pay all the expenses of the fans that traveled out there.

I am historically aware of the reasons and can understand to a degree but we are all individuals capable of an independent thought process, I have never repressed any of the home nations or Ireland, the events that have happened in the past are the past but again nothing to do with the English public/common man, should I hold a grudge against the Normans/Danes/Germans/Italians?
I just try and get on with my fellow man....occasionally I don't
