great to see the team spirit and the national coaches hailing the improvement in our players this week.
it looks like Santi and Olly will come home safe after all....
a bonus of the poland game going back a day is that the spuds and chavs only have 2 1/2 days to recover

To be fair even though he's missed chances Giroud has still got into positions to have them in the first place. Of course it helps if you have a wizard like Santi feeding balls through but still. Good movement from him there, and a very good header. Movement in the final 12 yards is so key, RvP's ability to lose defenders in and around the six yard box bagged him tons of goals last year.1989 wrote:Wenger on French TV analyzing Giroud's goal, praising his movement and finish:

Re: Weekend Intl Games
that was a lovely header.no real pace, he just guided it in to the far corner. it was the placed kind of header that Henri or Bergkamp would score once in a blue moon (Dennis v Barca at Wembley was one).
not bad for a 'mediocre' player

All that “hating the Engerlish” bollocks is really just an inbred culchie thing. They have no class. Or front teeth. They are dragged up hating the superior, more intelligent Dubs with our bigger cocks, cars, and houses. They call Dubliners “West Brits” such is their small-minded hatred of all people that don’t have a cow living in the house with them. The swamp rats associate this with hating the Engerlish too. Basically they just hate any fucker that hasn’t married his own sister, fucked his own uncle or molested a goat. It’s a culchie thing!augie wrote:LeftfootlegendGooner wrote:I for one don't get all jingoistic when it comes to England, I do however want them to win but never expect them to win a tournament although in 96 I thought we were one of the best teams and so nearly got thought to the final.
I find it quite sad that the Irish hate the English so muchI got married in 94 in St Lucia and as England hadn't qualified for the finals and Ireland had I supported them wholeheartedly, I would have supported Scotland and Wales back in my youth against any foreign side as I must have been naive and thought they would want us to win too

Shame really but that is the way it is I guess, I don't mind the friendly rivalry when we are playing against each other but from what I've heard and read its far from friendly........
To be fair it used to be like that but isnt like that as much anymore. What you have got to remember is that there is a lot of historical issue's at play in that rivalry and it is all very well saying that crap shouldnt be brought into sport but we had generations of people reared on the notion that the english were the devil and "soccer" was the devils spawn and it is ironic that, for all the bad changes that it has brought, the sky tv era has been really good at breaking down much of those barriers.
From a personal point of view nationality isnt the issue but I would compare the issue with the similar situation that the decent people of Ireland have with dublin - I know that there are more scumbags in dublin () but the media over-reaction to every small bit of success by either team makes it impossible to read a paper or turn on the tv afterwards. In a lot of ways that sentiment is echoed by Gooners when they refer to the pro manure coverage in england so it isnt exactly an alien concept

Our 4-1 fluke over the mighty Faro’s was hilarious tbh. They actually out-passed us for whole sections of that game. This current Oireland team is the shittest one ever. And managed by a 125 year old Italian, who did his best managerial work a quarter of a century ago and who has the same grasp of English as a culchie with a traumatic brain injury.
Typical robbing Tallaght bastard Kunto Keane - trying to steal someone else’s goal. But of course Tallaght is where we quarantine all the dirty muck savage culchies when they slither through border control and get into Dublin. Real Dubs hate Tallaght.

The german team is converting more and more to some kind of Arsenal...nice football, but no big wins and no trophiesPerryashburtongroves wrote:Sweden have come back from 4-0 down to draw 4-4 with Germany in Berlin.

Re: Weekend Intl Games
Lovely to see a positive side to International games and good to see Giroud getting booed off (surely u mean scoring) for France ,wheres baba when u need him !
Re: Weekend Intl Games
I've told people about this time and time again - the non-jumping German is one of the worst centre halves aerially I've seen in a long time. We seem happy enough to slate TV5 when he gets outjumped, despite giving away 6 or 7 inches in height to Mertesacker, but there's always a defence for this bloke.Perryashburtongroves wrote:Yeah, I saw the last five minutes or so on telly and it was a simple ball in to the box and Per got beaten quite easily by Ibrahimavich who just did enough to put him off. Then he moaned about an elbow that never was. The ball then broke for the Swede to bang home a great drive into the corner.clockender1 wrote:BBC says Per 'failed to deal ' with a high ball. ....northbank123 wrote:Fucking Diaby.Perryashburtongroves wrote:Sweden have come back from 4-0 down to draw 4-4 with Germany in Berlin.

Watch Holt rough him up at the weekend too
Yes, he's very assured on the deck. Yes, his positional sense is one of the best there is around. But I'm sad to say that especially in this country there is a physical side of the game to being a CB that can't be shyed away from and he needs to add that to his game if he is going to be one of the best around
