Sign him then dump him in the reserves .
Re: Cesc - Arsenal paying more than Barca
These quotes from cesc seem to be appearing a lot more recentley. I think he has at last got the hint that this "dream move" to barca was not all what it cracked up to be.
It would be interesting to see if pep did get the job here who his first signing would be. A little something tells me it just might be cesc

I'm not in the fuck him league ,but neither do I think the club will welcome him back .
I know for a fact he asked to leave the season before and Wenger told him that if he stayed 1 more season he would
let him go to Barca but made no mention of the dosh.
Unfortunately after he told Barca he'd be there in a year they then saw it as a perfect excuse to low ball Arsenal on the Money side.
Gazidis told Barca to fuck off unless they coffed up 35 million and then it got ugly .
Fabregas (under Barca's prompting) then had a hissy fit,and promptly told Wenger he would go on strike because as he saw it le boss had broken his word .
Wenger then did his usual Pontious Pilate act, neutered as always by his lack of power in these matters and Gazidis played the cards out with Barca knowing they had all the aces !
Gazidis LOVES to think himself as the great negotiator and was very miffed when he got forced to sell at what he felt was a low price for Fabregas and blames the player for this as well as the Barca whores himself.

Not sure if it would work out him coming back.
Was a huge fan of his but time to move forward.
Not so sure he is unhappy at Barca either - think he will eventually break into there first 11 and be a regular for years to come.
Oooooo Santi Carzola!

Cesc who?augie wrote:1989 wrote:Oi Cesc, you wanted to leave and you got your wish. We have moved on, we've got Santi who's ahead of you in the Spanish midfield pecking order.![]()
You what ??Cesc is ahead of santi in the pecking order and that is a certainty. Some would like to scratch cesc's name from our memory banks but the fact is that he was a bloody great player for us and at times carried the team on his back which was unfair on such a young player. There is no way of getting away from the fact that he left a club with zero fcuking ambition to join what was probably the best club side ever. He left to play under a manager that was his hero when he was growing up in barca and the fact that pep is no longer there is probably part of the reason that he doesnt seem to be as happy now. Maybe I am naive but I think cesc left us to go back to his home club and it was the only club he would have left us for and I am not going to hold that against him

But I think you are probably right in all of that, augie. I hold no real ill will towards him but I really feel we as a club should now move on. He's a Whore now and that's that really...

Re: Cesc - Arsenal paying more than Barca
I will always think he was a great player for us, but the sulky last year took the gloss off for me.
There is regular talk in the media here that he is frustrated at the lack of starts. He is clearly behind Messi, Xavi and Iniesta and the concensus is that he'll have to wait for an injury to one of them, or for the slight signs of Xavi's powers waning to increase, before he books his place. He is very popular with the fans and players and there is not any noise about him being generally unhappy.
I'd love him in our squad, but can't see a scenario where he'd come back.

Re: Cesc - Arsenal paying more than Barca
I too can see Cesc in a R&W shirt as a 27/ 28 year old complete player, with loads of barca trophies under his belt, and on a mission to see out some unfinished business at AFC, I.e. to win things. I would gladly welcome back such a good servant to the club, and would relish seeing any combination of him, santi, arteta, jack in the midfield. That’s the stuff of wet dreams.
As others said he left for his boyhood club which happens to be the best club side in the world, and yes the way he went about it left a sour taste in the mouth, but I don’t think he exactly shat on the club to the extent that some people make out here. End of the day he agitated the move he desperately wanted as he knew wenger wouldn’t let him go willingly, but be was very respectful to AFC in pressers the weeks after the transfer (and he still is) and he didn’t bable on about the child inside of him, or any gubbins like that.
Things are clearly not working for him lately under villanova and lets hope he gets to eat his slice of humble pie soon enough and come back to Arsenal one day in the not too distant future.

Re: Cesc - Arsenal paying more than Barca
sorry augie but if his boyhood club was getafe instead of barca or someone like that would he have gone to them instead, cesc spent the last 3-4 months at arsenal in a huff letting himself down, the club down and the fans down.
Re: Cesc - Arsenal paying more than Barca
I am amused to see the jumping on the bandwagon of Cazorla after what less than double digit games?
Fabregas is as good as I've seen playing football and has been for a lotta lotta years. Cazorla is indeed a fine player after 10 games but Fabregas carried the whole club for a good few years as Augie points out. There is a long, long way to go before he could ever be judged as an equal to Fabregas in my eyes.
I'd take him back in a fucking heartbeat.
