Time to Stand Up? AGM and fan discontent

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I responded to this
hugh jardon wrote:A recent BBC study on football ticket pricing was published and unsurprisingly, Arsenal were top of the list for the highest admission prices, with the cheapest season ticket some £255 more than anyone else’s.
which is BS, include Sperz or Chelski CL games and they are the same price

I would like to see rules enshrined about ticket prices
IMO all away tickets should be = to the cheapest tickets in the stadium
they've already paid to get there

I would like to see every board include an elected fans representative arguing our corner

I would like to see 100% transparency of all football teams accounts

I would like to see reasonable kids prices all over the stadium

these things should be legislated by Prem, FA or Govt. Asking just your own team to do them is asking them to reduce their income and competitive advantage, unrealistic.

Have been a huge critic of arseblogger on here for a long and I started a thread a few years ago slating the guy (and there werent too many that agreed with me either  ). Too many of his targets for criticism seem to be people outside the club or those who disagreed with the policies of wenger and the board and that wasnt a coincidence imo. Fair play the guy seems to have built up a good rep on the blogger scene but again imo it seems that he now believes his own hype and has become the self-appointed spokesperson for all Arsenal fans everywhere

There is a difference between people liking his column and actually wanting him to speak for them or agreeing with everything he says

Yeah, I used to like reading his blog but I cant take him very seriously anymore.

You’re right about him only targeting those outside the club. It was pretty blatant this summer where both Song and RvP got slated by him. That’s all fair enough, I couldn’t stand Song and want RvP to fail miserably - although I did agree completely with what he said in his statement. But there was not a word of criticism towards Wenger over them or the reasons they left. Or the fact they were allowed to leave.

Wenger was the one who chose to stick with RvP for years and then made him play his last season surrounded by mostly rubbish. And who puffed up Song, telling him he was part of Arsenal best squad ever and made him think and act like he was fucking Zidane? Again Wenger. It always comes back to Wenger. Everything does.

Asreblogger also said Song was guilty of putting his own interests ahead of the team. What and Wenger isn’t guilty of that? And if its such a heinous and treacherous crime for an Arsenal player to join Man Utd then surely it is equally bad or perhaps worse for an Arsenal manager to agree to sell our best player to them? And then lie that he had no choice. Again this was not mentioned.

Fair enough though if Arseblogger wants to back the club and manager. Its his blog, he can do what he wants. Nobody forces anyone to read it … increasingly I don’t bother to now.

Its not his fault but many people do appear to base their opinions from what he says. I've lost count of the times I've heard or read smeone say something and then later in the day when I've read Arseblog seen exactly where they got that view from.

For all the clubs faults they are not stupid and I can see why they would want to try and keep someone like Arseblogger onside. He is very influential.

At the start of the season did the manager/board honestly believe we had a team/squad capable of genuinely competing for the title?

If the answer is yes... do they therefore accept that to be out of the title race before November (again!) is an unacceptable mismanagement of a squad with alleged title-winning potential?

If the answer is no... then why is it acceptable for a supposedly ambitious club to go into the season unable to compete when we are told (and the accounts appear to confirm) that the manager has excess funds to spend on improving the squad but chooses not to?

The answer can only be one of the 2 above. Either the manager has inexplicably failed to maximise the potential of a quality squad, or he has inexplicably failed to put together a squad of sufficient quality in the first place.

Pick one, sack the bastard and fuck off.

If anyone is going along to waste their time at this pointless shallow exercise and and to listen to corporate PR then can they at least tick my 'bullshit bingo' card off for me as each phrase gets uttered:

1. There are significant funds available to Arsene to strengthen the squad
2. Great potential
3. Financial fair play
4. Rising energy prices
5. Inflation
6. Sympathetic to the fans financial circumstances
7. A full review of ticketing arrangements
8. Not all doom and gloom
9. Sustainable model
10. We live within our means
11. Competitive
12. This squad will give people a nice surprise I am convinced of that
13. True to our philosophy
14. Arsenalisation
15. I have worked in football for 30 years
16. We live in a world where people make instant judgements
17. The answer is not always to buy

Might help to cheer you all up when you're witnessing Ivan's mock empathy

Dear Mr Wenger: You bought Podolski to replace Arshavin, and you bought Giroud to replace Chamakh.
Why did you not buy anyone to replace RvP?

As @timpayton informs me, questions from the floor are allowed at tomorrow's AGM. The AST insisted having not been permitted last year.

And dear Mr Wenger on that latter point, I notice that tonight you brought Chamakh back on to the sub's bench. How long before you realise he is actually better than Giroud ?

Hopefully people will give them a hammering and AW will be incredulous and have a hissy-fit and fuck off into the sunset with Gazidis, Kroenke and Hill-Wood.
