Time to Stand Up? AGM and fan discontent

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

From someone who has prepared for AGMs for 10 years, can I just forewarn everyone that this will be scripted, boring in the extreme and an opportunity for the club to showcase its best line in corporate PR and spin

Anyone anticipating blood and wholesale change is going to be overwhelmingly disappointed

You are wasting your time and effort going along. AGMs are a box ticking exercise in corporate compliance especially for 'controlled companies' which is what we are. After the meeting the directors will go their separate ways for a few months until the next meeting, some poor corporate secretary will take the minutes, your points will be noted and filed appropriately and that will be that

If you want to hurt the club stop giving them your money. Barbed questions and stomped feet are meat and drink to corporate PR types - they are trained to deal with it

Mr Wenker,

You're right but presuming Wenger will be there he will take it extremely badly if serious criticisms of the regime and his management are raised. He really does believe in his own infallibility, it's the only way to explain his repeated failures.

You'll either be asked to leave or have a 73 year old, ex-Etonian intervene before he's had a chance to speak, patronising you to high heaven.

As I said - waste of time

Crucify them tomorrow, whoever is going, please fucking tell them exactly how they feel. Don't fall for the corporate bollocks they spin. This is getting fucking stupid again, make your voices heard and demand change. They won't take it on board but at least they will know.

And as they clearly won't listen anyway, start speaking with your wallets as well.

I wonder whether the AGM is pure theatre and makes no difference...?
If the pressure can impact board behaviour, then maybe in the long term a loss today could be a good thing
personally I doubt it, SilentStan wants his customers happier than this,
but I think whatever he does, is what he is likely to have done anyway,
irrespective of moody AGMs

The only AGMs that matter are ones where the company is not controlled and a group of shareholders can exercise their shareholder rights by voting against decisions that the board is considering taking. They can vote against large share option schemes and remuneration package increases etc and influence the future direction of the company

I would like to know how anyone is going to do that when 66% of the voting rights are held by one individual

If anyone thinks that the last 2 results will make any difference to the staged sham of the AGM this morning then you're more deluded than uncle Arsene

As if the Q&A haven't prepared weeks ago eh? Does anyone remember what run of form the team had going into the last AGM - for fuck sake we were even lower than this year and fresh from the humbling at Old Trafford and making Steve Kean look like a tactical genius

The naivety of some people, sitting there waiting for this AGM as if its going to be some sort of historic event in the history of the club is amazing

Kroenke literally sees it as a nuisance and will say and do the bare minimum before getting on a plane and not showing up again for months. Just let Ivan send him the monthly management accounts and as long as that cash balance goes up that's all he cares about

It seems that change is an impossible dream so right now I would settle for a rowdy AGM where fans express their frustration and contempt at the way the club is going. The board and manager all deserve the mother and father of a grilling and if they get that and are made aware that the fans are far from happy then I will accept that. What I will not accept is a room full of *word censored* who sit there meekly and applaud the french :censored: when he tells everyone about how close we are to winning trophies and who then applaud the *word censored* when he is finished :banghead: Make up your mind before you go to this meeting lads.......either you are proper fans or sheep cos if you sit there without raising the serious issues then you are as culpable for the state of our club as phw and all the other :censored: on the board

What the fuck do you think's going to happen augie.....the club have the fans in some sort of trance and there's no uprising on the horizon. Look at what's going on in the stadium and how the majority feel. They laud Wenger and the club and when defeat rears it's ulgy but inevitable head, then the blame lies far, far away in some mysterious, evil and extremely unfair land.

I used to go to the AGM's years ago and they could be more lively than the carefully crafted medja bullshit events they now are.
Unfortunately my undeserving Offspring sold the 4 shares I gave them as part of my divorce settlement last year so I couldn't go now even if I wanted to but I sure would like to .

Is Arsene going to appear or hide like he did last time ?

Long time reader first time poster.

Agree what we will hear of today will be pure spin & bs Kroenke will behind the scenes be thanking OGL & IG for again turning a profit.Last night would be a time filler for him his business here is sunday & the NFL at wembley.

Anyone left still actually think the money we have to strengthen the team is anything but money held for failure to qualify for CL football?

Went to my first game in 83' ex-season ticket holder since we moved have been going less & less and in truth it's been more about catching up with old gooner mates. It's stale on the pitch it reflects what's going on in the boardroom.

Anyway good to finally say hello to everyone on here!
