Poll - Safe Standing and Aston Villa trial.
Re: Villa agree to safe standing area trial.
Absolutely no chance of prices for a standing area being decreased, it's just not going to happen. They will blame extra security requirements or something.
Love a bit of crowdsurfing. Used to get it at Saltergate all the time, but it wasn't what I'd call safe. You had to work out as the goal went in if you were going to slip under the rails or try to be carried over them. Getting that wrong used to be very painful

Well, that may depend on the club. You might be surprised.richpye wrote:Absolutely no chance of prices for a standing area being decreased, it's just not going to happen. They will blame extra security requirements or something.
At least one EPL club has told us that they would like to have safe standing because, while they recognise that football has become too expensive, they don't want to undermine their pricing structure for seats by lowering the ticket prices for those ... instead they want a 'new product' that they can offer at a new, lower price point ... and that would be safe standing.

Oh for fucks sake. Surely if the last few weeks have taught us anything, it's that terraces didn't cause the disaster.Metalheadz Gooner wrote:Check this http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpoo ... -32112983/

Doubt any "big" club with healthy regular attendance will ever move to standing, even on a trial basis. Too much controversy (Hillsborough etc) and liability/lawsuit issues.

I thought it was the police who were to blame not the terracing.DarylAFC wrote:Oh for fucks sake. Surely if the last few weeks have taught us anything, it's that terraces didn't cause the disaster.Metalheadz Gooner wrote:Check this http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpoo ... -32112983/

I sort of disagree, i think those with limited attendences like Villa, Everton, spuds, chavs etc will go for the increased revenues to catch up united.Barriecuda wrote:Doubt any "big" club with healthy regular attendance will ever move to standing, even on a trial basis. Whether City, toon and we would solely for money is debatable granted, but i think we should consider it due to the crap atmosphere.
in fact. if Red Action don't support this, you have to wonder what is the point of them - weren't they formed to improve the atmosphere and develop 'singing sections' ????

If they are fighting the fight to improve the atmosphere then why was that c**t allowed to below loud music before the games which is the time that fans traditionally would stoke up the atmosphere ?

Re: Villa agree to safe standing area trial.
was compulsary seating brought in because of Hilsborough? if so, does the recent admitance by the police force that it was their fault mean that the enquirey into the safety of standing at games is no longer valid as well?

regardless of who was or wasn't responsible, one thing is certain - it was the crowd being crushed on the fences that caused the deaths.flash gunner wrote:It should, definatelyburns718 wrote:was compulsary seating bout in because of Hilsborough? if so, does the recent admitance by the police force that it was their fault mean that the enquirey into the safety of standing at games is no longer valid as well?
We don't have fences any more so AISA, Red Action etc should put their names to this like the fans of the other clubs.

Safe Standing?
BSM seem to have voiced their support in their recent e-mail to all members but I was wondering what the overall opinion of gooners is on this. Apparently over 90% of fans support it according to the FSF. Personally, I think its great its proven to be safe through its use in Germany and it would benefit those who wish to stand and those who wish to sit. Also its badly needed at The Grove to boost the atmosphere

There are lots of campaigns currently going on- mainly led by the FSF. They seem to mainly focusing on drumming up support with MPs as apparently the government need to agree to change the legislation that was passed following the Taylor Report for it to be brought in- even on trial

Exactly. Ive been to rugby league in The South Stand at Leeds Rhinos and its a pretty big stand it is all standing and it was packed. It wasn't even the safe standing that we still cant get brought in football and the atmosphere was great. Strangely enough there was not a single sign of a crush, hooliganism or any trouble which our wonderful politicians believe will all be rife if we bring in safe standingclockender1 wrote:yes, but currently its discrimination by the UK gov. as they allow it at their Rugby where the farquar MP's stand in their barbour jackets and flat capsnorthbank123 wrote: Get no help from EU law mate, not in a million years are the Parliament/Commission going to rule that banning standing is unlawful.

they either have to ban it at all sporting events or none, is my point.
