Come on now. I've given Le Chapman some praise for his header.......you can do it boys......two great finishes and the assist to take the game to extra time........can you do it......admit he's our best striker........have a try
Steve O if you look back a page or two you will see that I did give credit to chamakh and mentioned how scoring the goal gave him a visable lift in confidenceI actually went so far as to suggest that chamakh's failure's thus far have been down to wenger more than the guy himself but before you give me the prize can I tell you to stick your virtual trophy where the sun dont shine ?

One of my favourite ever achievements from the boys, absolutely fills me with joy when I think back to how happy it made me. Top stuff.SteveO 35 wrote:Amazing how a League Cup game has produced 33 pages.
Funny but I thought finishing 4th was supposed to be more exciting
Just stick yer virtual trophy where the sun doesn't shine. This cup matters.... a lot. Fair play to all you Gooners who went there tonight - you were truly magnificent in your support and you got what you deserved. Bradford at home next please. Call us lucky, call it a shit cup......I want to win it.
1993 was a great year when we won both cups. Would anyone else settle for that again 20 years on ? I know I would even if we finish 6th (which actually would give us a chance at winning another cup the following year)

There's only one Arsene wenger
What this proves is that it's never over til it's over and this is a mistake I won't make again.

Agree. It absolutely beggars belief that Ramsey was played there time and time again last year when he clearly wasn't suited to the task or capable of completing it. I have been one of the biggest critics of Arshavin because simply he has gone to dog turd at the club and his work rate is disgusting. But he has four times the ability Forehead Wanker will ever possess, and he's a player that if we tried a novel idea like playing a formation to suit the players and opposition rather than 4-5-1 regardless could be a useful player for us this year. Of course he's still a greedy bastard and made a few poor decisions but he gives attacks tempo and when he's confident you know he'll beat his man one-on-one every single time.LeGinge (Northern Branch) wrote:Watching the game again. It's amazing how much of our good play (second half) went through Arshavin. He set up at least 3 of our goals and his work rate off the ball was pretty decent.
Quite simply his best position is central. Wenger screwed up by not deploying him there last season when we were seriously lacking in that area. He'll never get in my first team ahead of Carzorla but IMO is a decent backup playing that attacking midfield role especially now that Jack is back and can cover defensively along with Arteta if the little maestro Santi is injured.
Great response from the guys. I'll leave my own personal feelings towards the manager and board aside and just be chuffed with still being in the hat. I think a big plus is the coming back from the 5-5 goal. After getting back from 4 goals down we could have just sat and waited for penalties but we kept pushing.
Yes, they're shite but they're a PL team, Norwich are not much less shite and they managed to comfortably beat us.
Will Wenger learn anything and think about playing two up front given that all of our attacking options seem suited to it? Not a chance

Re: Reading in the "whatever its called this year cup"
It wasn’t just his goal, he changed the game. He created chances, he looked a genuine threat going forward and he made up for a woeful Kos performance at the back. Chamakh played well, very well, but I wouldn’t chance him at OT. I’d play him, no question, but try it out against someone else first. Maybe play Chamakh and Giroud up front together? Throw Podolski up there?SteveO 35 wrote:Lets forget the two fantastic finishes by Chamakh and the assist for the 96th minute equaliser then ????OneBardGooner wrote:+1Glitch33 wrote:Stick with Giroud each game in the absence of anyone better. Please - by all means, everyone knock themselves out on Giroud's header but please lets have some acknowledgment for the Chamster tonight. He gave his all for the entire match and played a key role

Of course not, that would be admitting he got it wrongnorthbank123 wrote:Agree. 120 plus minutes of madness, everything you love and hate about Arsenal on one pitch. Man of the Match; The Gooners behind the goal..Everything else has been well covered but main points were Theo is better than Gervinho in one on one situations (or any situation) He is not worth a Kings ransom but he is worth keeping. Giroud could hide and take no responsibility. The fans and media are hammering him. Yet in every game he tries , he is innovative and he pops up in unusual places and fights for the ball. Maybe it's this 100% effort that highlights his lack of quality at times. The most important lesson from Giroud is that we must play with a proper striker.
Eisfeld is worth a step up to at least the bench, he has quality but on the other hand do you want to throw him in at Old Trafford and destroy him?
The start was the worst ever by any Arsenal; team I have watched, Old Trafford last year was close but we played better opposition then. There was a lack of passion and interest from the players that is unacceptable for an Arsenal team. I actually thought the failure to give Chamakh that blatant penalty was the turning point. The team seemed more determined from that point. From then pride was restored and all we would have asked for at 0-4 was that.
Why were Reading moaning about injury time ? They wasted time on a throw and made a substitution to waste more time. If I were a Reading fan would be furious with them not the ref.
Anyway Wembley is on the horizon
...and not a virtual trophy in sight.

Was at game by Seg line next to the gobbiest knobs I have ever had the annoyance to stand near
BUT didn't we half get our own back
Pleased you heard us coz my throat is dead
Six fellas to my left decided to leave at half time
Reading fans poured out the ground at 4-2
The ground resembled the lane when we did the scum 4-1 in this competition
In all the hundreds of games I have been too this one was the biggest emotional roller coaster ever...fifth trophy? Let's have it!

Eisfeld
A little gem
Superstar in the making
Ran the midfield from the moment he replaced the Dench

Eisfeld is a little gem of a player. Once Him and Giroud came on we looked so much mroe of a threat. Chamakah also really came into it when Giroud came on and Arshavin dropped right behind them.
Re: Reading in the "whatever its called this year cup"
Well done mate - 95% of the Gooners that were there yesterday did the team proud. Often I hear people say how good the atmosphere was in the away end and it never really comes over that way on the box but last night all I could hear was the travelling Gooners from start to end.SammyDroppedHisShorts wrote:Was at game by Seg line next to the gobbiest knobs I have ever had the annoyance to stand near

Never witnessed a game like it in all my years watching the team
Poor old Brian McDermott looked like he was about to burst into tears when he was being interviewed at the end. Think he must be feeling how we did when Newcastle did it to us.....but at least we got a draw.
