WALCOTT - which position is best etc?
Re: Walcott - contract talks/which position is best etc?
Id rather Walcott be given a chance up front than the useless *word censored* Giroud, as others have said if we sell him to Liverpool I think he would be a success, and if we did sell him he would be replaced by shit thats if the money got spent at all
Re: Walcott - contract talks/which position is best etc?
Now now don't turn on Giroud. I've tried that and been reliably informed that all he needs is a little bit of time and he'll be the new Bergkamp or Henry because they had supposedly equally slow starts to their Arsenal careers. In 2020, there'll be a statue of our modern legend Giroud outside the Bowl - it'll be incredibly like the real thing, with its head arched back looking skywards and sullen and it'll be fixed to the same spot permanentlyGoonerN5 wrote:Id rather Walcott be given a chance up front than the useless *word censored* Giroud, as others have said if we sell him to Liverpool I think he would be a success, and if we did sell him he would be replaced by shit thats if the money got spent at all

You forgot to add with his head in his hands.... he's always doing this!!SteveO 35 wrote:Now now don't turn on Giroud. But sadly it'll be Walcott gone, the Forehead fucking off to the African Nations, so young Gnabry will get a chance to show us all that he's the latest worldbeating one-trick forward to come off the same production line that has produced the likes of Quincy, Aliadiere and Lupoli.franksav63 wrote:I know what you're saying mate, I'd rather see none of themSteveO 35 wrote:Yep, it'll be much better watching Gervinho and Gnabry when he goesfranksav63 wrote:Well done Wally Walcott *word censored* when you came on today... We all know that there are 'dizzying prices' in the January market so Serge will save us £20m and go on to have an Arsenal career to rival Jay Simpson's

My wanting Walcott to stay is not just based on this season, it is on what I have seen from him last season too.donaldo wrote:So we give hime a 5 year contract worth £20m plus on the back of 2 cup games against a poor premiership team and a 1st division side.QuartzGooner wrote:So who else is scoring for us?
Walcott scoring 5 out of his 6 goals this season in the League Cup tells us only so much; yes it is a lower standard of opposition than most games but Walcott has not been selected to play much league or Champions League football this season, and as the old Boxing adage goes "You can only beat what's put in front of you."
If we used that logic Vela and Bendtner would be playing for us
And on business sense, as letting him go in January for a small fee or in the summer for free would be daft.

How the fcuk can we play wally up front on his own ? Is there any sane Gooner out there that would suggest playing a midget up top as a lone striker given that his touch and lack of physicality would render him useless when it comes to linking up play ?

You're not holding out much hope that the Coach of the Decade adapts his tactical formations for different games then mate ?augie wrote:GoonerN5 wrote:Id rather Walcott be given a chance up front than the useless *word censored* Giroud, as others have said if we sell him to Liverpool I think he would be a success, and if we did sell him he would be replaced by shit thats if the money got spent at all

I'd sell Walcott for half a dozen green shield stamps,,,,,,,,,,,,even if they are out of date. Prefer a swap with Zaha though.
To want the 'boy' to stay with us to prove himself, (let's face it, after his seven seasons he has proved himself in bits and pieces) is to want to remain un-competitive.
He ain't no centre forward, and he is actually a great winger,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,if he played in a lower league.
People are blinded by a few special performances against inferior opposition and great goals, once in a blue moon.
Get rid of this pacey bloke and try the same tactics with someone who can deliver. Gareth Bale shits all over this 'world class player'.
Shame, as he is a nice bloke. So am I, but I'm not asking for £100k per fucking week .

Zaha will replace him I reckon and there is no complaint from me. The lad is fucking quality.
Re: Walcott - contract talks/which position is best etc?
On the basis that City are interested in him and Palace are talking about £20m then I'd say there's more chance of plaiting fog than him joining us any time soon1989 wrote:Zaha will replace him I reckon and there is no complaint from me. The lad is fucking quality.

I agree; just posted similar thoughts on Top Londoner's prediction thread.SteveO 35 wrote:On the basis that City are interested in him and Palace are talking about £20m then I'd say there's more chance of plaiting fog than him joining us any time soon1989 wrote:Zaha will replace him I reckon and there is no complaint from me. Would we really sell Walcott for £5M and buy unproven Zaha for £15 - 20M?
Re: Walcott - contract talks/which position is best etc?
The kid is an Arsenal fan though and that may work in our favour.SteveO 35 wrote:On the basis that City are interested in him and Palace are talking about £20m then I'd say there's more chance of plaiting fog than him joining us any time soon1989 wrote:Zaha will replace him I reckon and there is no complaint from me. Turnip doesn't mind spending big on promising kids as well as proved by the Walcott and Ox purchases.

On the basis of being an Arsenal fan, then anyone on this forum would qualify to get a contract/game 1989.1989 wrote:The kid is an Arsenal fan though and that may work in our favour.SteveO 35 wrote:On the basis that City are interested in him and Palace are talking about £20m then I'd say there's more chance of plaiting fog than him joining us any time soon1989 wrote:Zaha will replace him I reckon and there is no complaint from me. I know what you mean mate and I wish that his head will not be turned by the mega bucks on offer at City.
He has more chance of advancing his talent with us than with City, but that said, Wenger does not have a track record of making decent players world class and his tactics seem to stifle them.
I am sick of us signing good prospects talent and seeing it dissipate before our eyes under Le Prof.

Re: Walcott - contract talks/which position is best etc?
it's got so bad at the Arsenal
that fans are happy to see him play and are expecting him to be our saviour, ffs the bloke has been average at best since he join us, and if we had a decent squad he wouldn't get a game
now he comes on and the fans hope he can win us a match, the bloke is the next one out of the club, any fool can see that and then the abusive chanting will begin
