Re: watching this makes me so sad
Of all the games you could have picked I don't remember this being a classic (certainly not for us for 80 minutes), plus we were closer to United last season than the 21 points that season. And although I'm sure some people will disagree we are still capable of beating anybody at home in the PL. The United games in 2009 (when Bendy was our only available striker) and 2011 (following our annual self-implosion and minus Cesc) I couldn't foresee us getting a result and we won them both.
We are shite now though. Not only is Wenger damaging the status he built at the club beyond any recognition but he has also managed to erase so many memories from my mind, like the idea that we could ever go up to Old Trafford and force them to resort to kicking us and dominate them, or that we could go just about anywhere and bully teams.

in 33 years of supporting Arsenal im at my lowest point right now,it kind of takes me back to the Don howe days when we had to many overpaid underperforming players and a manager who was clueless.Wenger has become a joke, and it pains me to say that. The board seem to think we have blind faith, unfortunately not.remember where notts forest ended up by keeping their god like manager in the job too long,we are already a few miles along that long slippery road

Then under GG we tasted real success again, but were lampooned for the quality of our football.
Now, under Wenger from 1998 - 2006 we saw just what we could be, how big and successful we could become, and whilst playing amazing football too, and we liked it, and then had it cruelly taken away to appease one man's ego and satiate a Board's greed.

Mid 70's was dire ,very poor crowds almost no away support outside of London and even then we got terrorised at the swamp !
Late 70's at least we got to three cup finals (ok we lost 2 of them) and we started to get tastes of Europe which ended in bitter defeat @ Heysel 1980 !
Had some great times during these Cup games some of which are my favorite memories ,The four game semi final against Liverpool, the 5 game epic with Sheffield Wednesday !
In those days any trophy would have done but we had to wait a long time for GG to appear and lead us to glory !
All in all Ive loved it until 2006 ............I miss Highbury way too much !

I remember thinking back then that we were bad, obviously compared to the 03-04 side. But now I would give anything to be that level again compared to how things are now.

Re: watching this makes me so sad
its quite frightening how strong we were when you watch the re runs of seasons past on sky pre emirates move.the strength in depth is extraordinary although back then we took it for granted.seriously how many of those players have we replaced like for like, hard to think of many, cesc, nasri and rvp were world class but all left, carzola is awesome and we were very unlucky with eduardo,he was gonna be a world beater till his injury, thats 5 players over a 6 year period, not many is it or 8 if you count our last trophy sucess.the current team would get battered by any of our early wenger teams,we are in a bad place right now, anyone who thinks differant is kidding themselves,mr wenger are you reading this
