THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

After a very poor managerial performance v ManUre, I thought Wenger did better v Schalke
Picked a good team, set them out well, we rode our luck at times against an excellent team
but we held our own. That was a massive shift they out in

Arguably Saturdays game v Fulham is more difficult for the manager
Somebody (DB?) suggested resting Cazorla for leCoq, Jack to play 10
not a bad shout, would like to see Tets push forward if we do

I take it you were pleased to see Santos making a substitute appearance three days after being 'dead' to you?

Unforgiveable

The team picked itself, didn't it?

I'd say dropping Santos was something most people were calling for BEFORE the United game, never mind Schalke. Of course, Wenger knew better and we had to watch him getting ripped apart by Valencia... and given no help! :x So playing Vermaelen LB and bringing in Koscielny was obvious.

Then there was Theo - again, the lad hasn't started a single league game this season, and has even fallen behind Ramsey (who isn't even a winger or a forward!) in the pecking order. The fact Ramsey, Chamberlain, Rosicky and Gervinho are injured makes it very difficult to keep ignoring Theo without it being totally obvious he's being punished for not signing a new contract. And as Theo scored a hat trick a week earlier, I'd say it was amazing he was dropped again for United considering his pace and confidence (and United's massive pitch and tendency to attack us) so he was obviously going to play against Schalke. I'm sure every Arsenal fan called that one.

As for setting the team out well.... didn't we set up the same way as we always do, week in, week out, whether against Scunthorpe or Barcelona? very little changes apart from sometimes we're a little more cautious, switched on and bother to graft a little more.

JW10 is suspended isn't he? Agree Cazorla needs a rest, don't have a midweek game after Fulham though. Any formation with 2 up front would do. Sadly we know there isn't a chance in hell of that happening and we're odds on to really struggle to carve out many meaningful opportunities.

Unfortunately Spain do and it's in South America so Santi won't be back until Friday!! :banghead: :banghead: What with Wilshere's involvement with England it's hardly the best preparation for the Spuds!! :banghead:

Yeah I realised he's fucking going to Panama! Hopefully they'll bench him but I doubt it. Still, blaming international breaks is particularly pathetic when Spurs are also likely to have players dotted around various parts of the globe.

How much longer will the board be used as a scapegoat to cover Wenger's failures?

Did Kroenke force Wenger to buy Gervinho instead of Huntelaar? I could go on, but Christ, the pro-Wenger bullshit that is spouted on blogs and podcasts such as Arseblog and Footballistically Arsenal is a joke. Posh twats

Looking forward to more Wengerisms following our undeserved point against the mighty Fulham.
