Re: Spuds game
hopefully redaction have something lined up for this one. the only time in a league season our home supporters appear to give a shit about supporting the club
Re: Spuds game
Complete apathy
Win and it will be 'There's Only One Arsene Wenger' and as Sid said we'll back to it being the game that changed our season like last year (and where did that get us 12 months later - still a small, unambitious selling club)
Lose and we've slipped even further down the slope that this owner and management team seem hellbent on taking us to the bottom of. Makes me laugh when I see people saying that defeat here will be the catalyst for change - when you've been rodded 8-2, become the first PL team to throw away a 4 goal lead, chucked away a 4-2 lead in injury time against the Spuds, suffered the most abject defeats to the likes of Blackburn, Norwich, Wigan, QPR, Stoke, Bolton etc year after year......people still hold out hope that the next defeat will see Wenger off.
If he makes Kroenke another 10m in January selling Walcott and promoting Gnabry, he'll have achieved the board's ambition and as long as we're within a handful of points off 4th he won't have the slightest bit of pressure on his shoulders. Why? Because there's always an excuse that the Board buy into (and the majority of fans do too). Yesterday apparently we showed 'a good fighting spirit' and 'what the players have done in the last week physically is amazing'
There's an international friendly to blame this week and I would say even if we get humped next week, which in all probability we will (I say 1-3), then beat Montpellier and Gazidis and Kroenke will be jerking themselves off that another £x million from CL Group qualification has been achieved.
Keep filling the stadium, keep finishing 4th and individual humiliating defeats that matter a lot to us supporters will continue to be glossed off by the club's management.
FFS - if the guy didn't have the humility to walk away when we lost 8-2 then the shameless tosser won't give a flying if we suffer a 3 goal defeat to the Spuds

4-2 to us.
Both defences are crap right now.
Giroud to get another two.

Re: Spuds game
Great post. The truth is next Saturday's game means very little - apart from playing for a bit of pride. It will not be a turning point or catalyst if we win. And if we lose we will hear the usual "we must show a good response in the next game". Of course this lot (especially the manager) have no pride, no fight and no shame. That was evident after the 8-2 last season. Wenger should have walked then. I truly find it unbelievable that the Club are talking about giving him a new contract. He must be the only manager in the country that has zero pressure on him to perform season after season. He then extends this cosy little arrangement to the players, who equally get new contracts and pay rises for failure. Contrast Wenger's reaction to Arteta missing the penalty yesterday with that of Alex Ferguson when Rooney missed his recently. It went something like this; Wenger: "you can't blame Arteta. Who has not missed a penalty?". Whereas Ferguson said, "Rooney misses too many penalties. I have spoken to him. He won't miss another!". One is a winner the other is a loser. It does not take a genius to work out which is which. The fact that so many fans are prepared to put up with this and continue to support Wenger (more than the Club in many instances) is extraordinary and depressing.SteveO 35 wrote:Complete apathy

Re: Spuds game
Absolutely spot on! You get the impression the excuses are prepared in advance. It will be the usual shit about the international game (please no injury to JW!), tiredness, etc etc etc. Everything is so wrong at the club right now, it is disgraceful. No leadership, no determination, no change of tactics, no real thrust up front, and clueless defending. The board don't seem to care as long as their wallets are still bulging. God, it's so depressing to see how far we've slipped!SteveO 35 wrote:Complete apathy

Re: Spuds game
much as i fucking hate the state we are currently in and want wenker out, i really think that the team needs a fucking kick in the head and need to show some passion playing for the club in this match. i can sort of cope with us being a bit shit, but them coming over and dicking us on our own patch then having bragging rights for the next 3 months kills me. please for fuck sake SHOW UP arsenal. if we take the game to them we will win, if we whimper our way through the game doing the usual "we will score if we keep passing" bollocks we will get beaten again.
much as i want to be there to support the boys i absolutely refuse to pay that amount of money, I paid £85 for a ticket against Chelsea and we didnt show up, the risk of that happening is higher now and i refuse to give that ridiculous money to the club so will be sitting at home with a crate of strongbow watching on the telly.
FUCKING COME ON ARSENAL

Re: Spuds game
The reality is that last season there wasn't much separating us and the Spuds as proven by the fact that we were a West Brom goal away from them finishing above us on the final day. They beat us at their place, we beat them at ours
We all know that RvP was the difference between the two sides - they had Adebayor with his usual irritating inconsistency and an alienated Defoe, we had the best striker in the PL with a bunch of no-marks backing him up. The bloke who scored a goal out of nothing when we were 1-2 at home to them just before half time last season and was the difference for us in so many games. Who is going to score a goal like that for us this time? Possibly Cazorla, that's it. Certainly not any of our strikers - back to goal, roll the player and score a perfect curled finish from outside the box - Giroud, Walcott, Chamakh? I think not.
They've kept their two strikers, we've sold ours and replaced him with another no-mark. They will almost undoubtedly strengthen their squad in January and we will not (we'll weaken ours by selling the only remaining quick forward we have)
This will finally be the season they overtake us in the PL. Depressing but how I see it. They finished 4th last season and weren't satisfied because in their minds they should have been 3rd at worst. Liverpool fired their manager on the back of two cup finals because the League performances weren't good enough. We, on the other hand, celebrated like a non-League team reaching the 1st round of the FA Cup on the back of 3rd place and an abject showing in the cups. We'll reward the bloke responsible with a new contract. At least Liverpool and Spurs have done something about what they percieve to be under-achievement - none of us know whether it will work, only time will tell - but better to try and fail than to die wondering eh?

Mmmmm, they beat United at OT and are currently beating Man City 1-0................we couldn't hold off a granny with a hip replacement. I'm very tempted to put £100 on Spuds to win, there's not a chance in hell Wenger's pussies will beat them.

Re: Spuds game
They've only kept one clean sheet this year. Even we managed to have the better of the game at Citeh's place. We're playing poorly and have no long-term ambition but that doesn't suddenly turn Spurs into world-beaters. They can't defend for shit and have failed to beat Wigan, Lazio, Panathanaikos, Norwich and West Brom at home and they've actually put in very few convincing performances.TeeCee wrote:Both defences are crap right now.

Spuds lost.
If we lose to them at home, given the context of our current poor run AW has to go or something drastic has to happen.
If we don't show up for this one, the writing is on the wall.

The 'wanting something to give' part of me wants us to lose in an embarrassing catalogue of half-arsed shite defending way.....you know the usual, but the hatred inside of me for those swamp dwelling c**ts wants just one day that these bastards can giveme toput a smile on my face.
Face saving draw, both teams are shite. If Everton finish below either of us, Moyes should be sacked on general principle.
