worse then

wood
shabann
miller
mannone

:D
Ah, but they weren't number 1's though... they were understudies and never first team regulars.

In fact, I think we can all agree they were all a bunch of number 2's! :D

I agree with Flash - Almunia being our number 1 goalkeeper ended a very consistent line of quality first choice keepers at the Arsenal :(

The ratio of mistakes to games Flappy is miles ahead of any another keeper.

Wrong I'm afraid - he most certainly was the number 1 for a spell because I remember despairing that we'd replace Average Al with him. He had a clear run of games as the number 1 making a penalty save against the weakest fucking effort I've seen away to Partizan and Wenger was talking him up again. There were a lot of people on here that were becoming anxious that Chesney was going to walk away for nothing because he'd earned rave reviews on loan and Flapper had firmly been installed as Wenger's number 1. Only an injury to Flapper gave Chesney his chance and thankfully he grabbed it with both hands (something Flapper could never be accused of) otherwise the Self Harmer would still be persisting with the useless tosser now.

He was also number 1 for our cup games for quite some time, and as Donaldo points out his mistake ratio outweighs everyone else's handsomely. Who can forget the magical performance at Wembley against the Chavs in the FA Cup semi final, or the 5-1 Shame at the Lane, the throwing away of the Beer Cup at Burnley and the FA Cup at Stoke. Fuck me, the fella has had countless opportunities and been shit in every single one of them nearly. He is well deserving of the title worst ever Arsenal keeper, unlike Shabaan who barely had a chance

Fair enough, but I can't say I remember Flappy being the established number 1. I kind of remember that period as goalkeepers getting their chance to play, fucking up or getting injured and then quickly finding themselves out the side again. I suppose technically, he was number 1 for a few weeks, but I don't think he ever established himself like Almunia.

For me, we went from Lehmann to Almunia to a period of total instability and confusion... then Chesney.

Anyway, I know what Flash meant. I suppose how many games you play before you're considered number 1 is debatable anyway. For me, the key word is "established", so a few months at least...

The thing about doing teams like this is people tend to pick someone who just played a handful of games for us but was never given the opportunity to prove their shiteness on a consistent basis.

So If I were doing a team it would be players who have played at least 20+ appearances for us

Youre splitting hairs there SteveO really, he was a debatable number 1 at best for about 3 games

While we are on the subject of keepers why is it that our keepers seem to have nothing to do except pick the feckin ball out of the net.Szcz yesterday didnt make a single save yesterday(except for flapping a paw at spuds first one),he simply picked the ball out of the net twice, all of our recent keepers are the same, while we test the oppositions keepers for 90 mins and keep getting denied, ours just chuck the ball in and throw points away,im sick of it :banghead:
