An urgent plea to Arsene supporters..
.....this Forum really really needs you to join up and bring other views to the table. There's no point getting away from the fact that 99% of posters on here are anti-Wenger and want him out along with the board but clearly this is not the percentage at games, on phone-ins etc.
I for one can't see that a Forum is doing what it's supposed to do unless it generates good debate without resorting to insults. I am genuinely interested in hearing why he is still the man for you, why 1996-2005 is enough to justify giving him more time, and why you think that other managers couldn't do a better job than he's doing.
I'm convinced there must be thousands who read the content on here but don't think it's worth getting involved due to the overwhelming anti-Wenger stance adopted. Go on, put the other side of the argument to us!

Wouldn't say 99% but clearly the vast majority of gooner forum contributors are no longer supportive of the manager.

99% I heard 2 blokes singing for Wenger to resign on Saturday and then left pretty sharpish after the response they got.

I'd actually feel safer drawing cartoons of Mohammed outside a mosque in downtown Tehran than I would questioning Wenger in front of his cult. Nearly got lynched last season.

They love him at the space bowl, while we are in the majority on here we are the minority inside the ground. Two of my gooner mates barley talk to me any more due to me being anti Wenger. They think I'm nuts!!

Fair play to you for bringing this up but it's not going to happen mate. I learnt a long time ago that no matter how much you debate something, if people aren't willing to open their mind to your view you'll just end up going round in circles as they are so adament in their views that nothing you say will change them. What's the point in a debate then?Eboue-Why? wrote:.....this Forum really really needs you to join up and bring other views to the table. Secondly, as the majority on here want Wenger out, on certain issues I try and play devils advocate and argue the other side just to try and give another point of view, but i'll tell you it soon gets tiring when people are quick to throw around labels like 'AKB' and other insults without actually knowing your views.
Certainly it's no surprise that more positive posters than me have either stopped posting altogether or have limited their posts to the occassional post here and there.
Re: An urgent plea to Arsene supporters..
i am a believer in wenger but its glaringly obvious that their are deficiencies atm with the club, board and manager. more than anything we just simply need to win a trophy. while it may be at the bottom of wengers "5" trophies i think the carling cup is a must this season. for the past 5-6 seasons the team and squads we have had just simply havent known how to win the big 1 or handle the pressure when backs have been against the wall.
considering last season the selling of fabregas and nasri the start we had and to finish 3rd was in itself a good job by wenger even though we where very fortunate at the end of the day. i just think we need a season of some consistency without any major out going and in the summer improve the squad and build better squad depth, strengthen in attack and defence.
i give him until the end of next season if things dont improve then yeah the time is right to get somebody else. but then again what manager is gonna improve us if we're selling our best players constantly?!?!

Re: An urgent plea to Arsene supporters..
There would be no debate at any other club about such obvious piss poor performance. The manager would be gone and that would be that.
Only at Arsenal Bank PLC can this be a debate due to the current board and the main culprit himself clinging onto former glories and then charging us for the pleasure.
The club has underacheived for years and has broken public promise after promise...............whats to debate?

I understand what you are saying (though I still stand by my claim that I am always willing to debate without insults) but I am not sure why you claim that calling someone an "akb" is an insult

Re: An urgent plea to Arsene supporters..
let the AKBs have there thread augie

Re: An urgent plea to Arsene supporters..
the AKBs will rule the forum once again

Re: An urgent plea to Arsene supporters..
What is there to debate? The facts are in front of peoples own eyes.7 years without a trophy.Only one realistic title challenge since 2004.No other manager at a top club in Europe would still be in a job with Wengers record. No other manager get paid £7m for failure
I said on here back in 2009 Wenger should have gone and nothing in those 3 years since nothing has changed my mind.In fact things have got worse
The stock reply you get from the AKB's when you question Wenger is you're not a Gooner go and support Chelsea or Man Utd.Debate over

Thing is Donaldo, they would argue that the stock answer they get from here is 'Fuck off!' too. I just want them to come on here and put their case forward and hope that insults don't start and that a healthy debate can begin. For me it's just getting boring listening to the same anti-Wenger stuff when there are so many fans out there who still believe.donaldo wrote:What is there to debate? The facts are in front of peoples own eyes.7 years without a trophy.Only one realistic title challenge since 2004.No other manager at a top club in Europe would still be in a job with Wengers record. No other manager get paid £7m for failure

Unfortunately it's not a user friendly place for new people to join who would disagree with the general concensus on here and the way the forum is run does not encourage alternate views. This is not meant as a criticism of the Mods as they were asked to step in after the forum was shut down, and they have done admirably. Unfortunately when you have a group of people who have been posting together for a long time (see the number of posts of the Mods) allegiances are made and people will gravitate towards people who have the same view.
I have seen new posters coming on here with positive things to say about Wenger and they were ridiculed and derided, in some cases by the Mods. I have raised issues before and was told to just ''man the fuck up''. When you have Mods who are participants they need to shelve their own opinion sometimes for the good of the forum and I see that happening very rarely. As I say they were the ''regulars'' who offered their services to help get the forum back up and running and fair play to them for that, but I don't see any initaitives being taken to help encourage new members.
Baba was a case in point. How he was let get away with what he was doing for so long is absolutely beyond me. He sucked the life out of the forums and in a lot of case he was encouraged. Some of the vitriol towards Wenger is completely unwarranted, He seems to have been blamed for not seeing what Abrahamvich and the Sheikh was going to do and foreseen the worldwide recession when people working in finance could not foresee it. Some of the posts are laughable to be honest and it seems like its a competition to come up with new ways to insult Wenger and it continues to feed on itself. I'm still here cause i'm just too stubborn

HighburyJD can be both critical and supportive of Wenger. He puts forward alternate views and some people debate them and others just ridicule him. For a week or two he seemed to be trolled by a specific member where every one of his posts was ridiculed and he was repeatedly accused of Wumming. JD can stand up for himself but if you have people reading this with a view to join it may put them off. It is hard to get the balance right between having a user friendly forum and letting people voice strong opinions.
On the subject of running the Forum, there were comments the other day about a rumours thread and its a pain in the ass for Mods to read it. Am not sure whether this was meant in jest but the Mods seem to climb all over themselves to delete one when there have been calls from people to actually have one. As a football supporter we all like to dream

As I say it is not meant as a criticism of the Mods it just is what it is, but unless there is a sea change I don't see new members seeing this as a place to discuss the Gunners and football in general unfortunately.
