RIP Patrick Francis Sheehan

Patrick Francis Sheehan (May 28, 1932 – November 8, 2012) was the Roman Catholic bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kano, Nigeria.

Born in Ireland, Sheehan was ordained to the priesthood in 1956. He was named bishop in 1970 and retired in 2008.

RIP Lee MacPhail

Leland Stanford MacPhail, Jr. (October 25, 1917 – November 8, 2012) was an American front-office executive in Major League Baseball. MacPhail was a baseball executive for 45 years, serving as the director of player personnel for the New York Yankees, the president and general manager of the Baltimore Orioles, chief aide to Commissioner of Baseball William Eckert, executive vice president and general manager of the Yankees, and president of the American League.

He and Larry MacPhail are the only father-and-son pair to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Lee was honored in 1998.

RIP Sergey Nikolsky

Sergey Mikhailovich Nikolsky (30 April 1905 – 9 November 2012) was a Russian mathematician. He was born in Talitsa, which was at that time located in the Governorate of Perm, Russia. He had been an Academician since November 28, 1972. He also had won many scientific prizes. At the age of 92 he was still actively giving lectures in Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. In 2005, he was only giving talks at scientific conferences, but was still working in MIPT, at the age of 100.

He died on 9 November 2012, aged 107.

Joseph Daniel Early (January 31, 1933 – November 9, 2012) was an American politician. He represented the third district of Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1975 to 1993.

RIP Iurie Darie

Iurie Darie (14 March 1929 – 9 November 2012) was a prolific Romanian actor. He was born in Vadul-Raşcov, Soroca County, Kingdom of Romania. He made his debut in cinematography in 1953. During his last years he suffered from diverse health problems including respiratory and cardiac insufficiency and also a stroke. He died on the night of 9 November 2012 surrounded by his family.

RIP Sergio Oliva

Sergio Oliva was a bodybuilder known as "The Myth". This sobriquet was given to him by bodybuilder/writer Rick Wayne. Wayne had begun calling Oliva "The Myth" "(because everyone who saw him at the 1967 Montreal World's Fair said he was "Just unbelievable")".

RIP Michel Hrynchyshyn

The Rt Revd Michel Hrynchyshyn C.S.S.R. (February 18, 1929 - November 12, 2012) was the apostolic exarch of the Apostolic Exarchate in France, Benelux and Switzerland for the Ukrainians from when he was consecrated bishop on 30 January 1983 until his resignation in 2012. He was appointed by Pope John Paul II on 21 October 1982. He also was an advisor to the Congregation for the Oriental Churches and a member of Le conseil d'Eglises chrétiennes en France (CECEF). Hrynchshyn was born in Buchanan, Saskatchewan.

RIP Bob French

Robert "Bob" French (c. 1938 – November 12, 2012) was a United States jazz drummer and radio show host at WWOZ, from New Orleans, Louisiana. French led The Tuxedo Jazz Band from 1977 until his death in 2012. (The Tuxedo Jazz Band was formerly led by Oscar "Papa" Celestin and later by French's father, Albert "Papa" French from 1958 to 1977.)

Robert Washington Shirley, 13th Earl Ferrers PC (8 June 1929 - 13 November 2012), styled Viscount Tamworth between 1937 and 1954, was a British Conservative politician and member of the House of Lords as one of the remaining hereditary peers. He was one of the few people to serve in the governments of five different Prime Ministers.

RIP Alex Alves (full name: Alexandro Alves do Nascimento)

Alexandro Alves do Nascimento (30 December 1974 – 14 November 2012) was a Brazilian footballer who has played for Kavala in Greece. He previously played in Brazil for Vitória, Palmeiras, Juventude (RS), Portuguesa (SP), Cruzeiro, Atlético Mineiro, Vasco da Gama, Boavista (RJ) and Fortaleza, and in Germany for Hertha BSC.

Alex Alves died on 14 November 2012 at Jaú after facing a battle against leukaemia.

RIP Martin Fay

Martin Fay (September 19, 1936 - November 14, 2012) was an Irish fiddler and bones player, and a former member of The Chieftains.

In 1962 he became one of the founding members of The Chieftains. In 2001, he decided to stop touring with the group, limiting his appearances with the group to events in Ireland. He subsequently retired in 2002. He died in Cabra, Dublin, Ireland.

RIP Ahmed Jaabari

Ahmed Said Khalil al Jaabari (1960 – 14 November 2012) (sometimes written as Jabari or Ja'bari or Ja'abari) was a Palestinian political activist, terrorist, and the second-in-command of the military wing of Hamas. He was credited as the leader in the takeover of the Gaza Strip by Hamas, leading the firing of Qassam rockets into Israel and played a role in the capture of IDF soldier Gilad Shalit.

The Israel Defense Forces and Shin Bet conducted a targeted air strike on 14 November 2012, a part of Operation Pillar of Cloud, killing Jaabari and his son while they were travelling in a car. Jaabari was the highest-level Hamas official killed in Gaza since Israel's offensive in 2008
